It has been said that unless you are born with natural speed and agility you will never have it. We are here to show you this sort of thinking is just a myth. Year after year, we help athletes become faster and quicker. Routines and actions executed during a game are deeply ingrained into athletes to the extent they do not have to consciously think about their every move. These skills are honed and perfected through drills and training. However, the most common pitfall we see in slower athletes is the lack of proper technique. Coach Willie Smith is the SPORTSPEED Director of Team Performance. One thing that coaching athletes has taught him is speed comes natural to some, but for most it has to be taught, learned, and practiced. In his 30 years of coaching, he has identified three common problem areas that inhibit speed performance and we address all of these in our SPORTSPEED INSTRUCTIOAL TRAINING DVD. The program helps develop and enhance the primary skills needed to optimize speed, quickness, and velocity.
Coach Smith is a New York native who attended Union Dale High School where he was one of the top twenty-five running backs in the country. He was highly recruited by various Division One colleges, but always dreamed of being the fastest man in the world and being an Olympic sprinter. Rather than pursuing a career in football, he accepted an athletic scholarship to run track at Auburn University. He is a two time NCAA champion in the 400 meter, two time American champion in the 400 meter, three time World Outdoor champion for the one mile run, participated in three summer Olympic Summer games, 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist, and set a world record for the 60-yard dash. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. When it comes to speed, agility, and quickness, Coach Smith speaks from experience!

SPEED HURDLES improve acceleration time and increases top speed through the improvement of lower body strength and lengthening the stride. There are several training excersises to improve speed and quickness using hurdles included in the training DVD. Speed hurdles are great for any competitive sport. They are light weight and easy to transport. Great for helping improve speed, agilty, stride, coordination, arm control, and jump technique.
The SPEED LADDER is used for improving basic agility rhythm movements. Also, the agility ladder focuses on speed burst, the ability to turn rapidly, and the reaction of speed of the lower legs. Quickness and reactivity help develop the fast twitch muscle fibers. In order to run faster, you have to develop your fast twitch fibers. The speed ladder will help you do high intensity, high ballistic speed work. Your arms have to take a leading role in quick step training.
Each week have tangible goals that decrease the time it takes you to complete your drills. Speed and Agility training helps strengthen leg muscles in order for you to cover more distances and run longer with lower effort exerted.
The POWER RESISTANCE HARNESS during different drills can improve speed, explosive start, acceleration, and agility. This type of equipment is better if an athlete works with a partner or their coach. Explosive power and speed can be improved through multiple drills of resistance sprinting and the harness works well for these types of drills. Training with a harness is similar to the towing of a sled, but without the hassle of transporting the plates. An athlete can decrease and increase their resistance easily. The harness is portable, so an athlete can practice on or off the field or indoors. There are two common ways of linking the athlete and harness.
Secure the shoulder harness and adjust it according to the athlete’s comfort. The coach or partner holds the other end of the nylon lead and provides resistance on a moderate level. Start running in place for about 5-10 seconds then slowly advance. Before starting, make sure the line from the partner to the runner is straight and without slack. The slack might cause injury to the partner if they are suddenly jerked forward.
Note: Advance slowly and never overpower your partner. Do this drill for 30-40 seconds and repeat 4-5 times in one session. This device teaches correct posture, arm action, and knee drive.
The ANKLE LATERAL RESISTOR also know as a Power Resistor strengthen the muscles of the abductors and glutes. They also strengthen your hips as well as the fast twitch muscles inside your thighs. An athlete uses resistance bands to condition their hip flexors in order to improve speed and quickness. The purpose of this training is to add new and different stimuli to your feet so they feel heavier than they really are. They improve range of motion, increase agility when changing directions suddenly, promote explosive starts, and train muscles for quick vertical movements.
The Use of this Equipment is for Jr High and above. Adult supervision is required.

In that review I mentioned that we had stepped on the jump rope breaking the handle, so although I had given it a positive review, the company noticing my comments sent me a replacement jump rope. I had accepted it was my fault for letting the jump rope be in a position to get stepped on, so this was totally out of their own good will they helped me out.
Thought I'd mention it, as it's always nice to know you're dealing with a company that is interested in your satisfaction.
The kit is great for training as well.
