The remainder of the book is devoted to describing three methods of speed reading. These are the Pointer Method, the Scanning and Previewing Method, and the Word Group Method. At the end of the description of each of these methods the author describes an "Activity" that is designed to enable to the student to master the technique.
I consider myself a relatively fast reader. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how just reading this book and being mindful of how I was reading served to almost immediately boost the speed at which I could read.
Speed Reading is an easy and quick read without any Speed Reading. The author does an outstanding job of giving the reader the information needed to be successful. With almost no effort I increased my reading speed from 2.7 words a minute to 148 words per minute.
There are 3 different methods explained in the book. The method you use depends on what you are reading. I accomplished my success with the first method. The last method I will call advanced speed reading. I will keep going with this new process.
I am stunned beyond belief. With continued practice I cannot even imagine how much I will be able to read. I got every detail. No more "what did I just read." This is by far the most awesome thing I have ever learned.
Want to Learn More in Less Time? Learn to Speed Read! Speed reading has long occupied center stage in the world of productivity, accelerated learning and self-improvement. And for good reason – it’s by far the most efficient way to boost your intelligence, expand your knowledge and to start chasing all those things in your life which matter to you the most. Of course, it’s not without its cynics – those who claim that speed reading is simply ‘reading fast’, or that it sacrifices comprehension for the sake of speed. Actually, the complete opposite is true. Speed reading is a complex and proven reading technique that will always guarantee 100% understanding. You’ll be able to read everything on your ‘must read’ list without worrying that you don’t have time to fit it all in. Because speed reading guarantees that you absolutely can.
What did I like? I have been trying to learn how to speed read for a long time and I can truthfully say that this book increased my speed after just going through with no practice from 320 wpm to 650 wpm and I am still learning and practicing. I can also tell you that I was skeptical when I started but to my surprise, I know that this works. I read tons of books and need to be able to get through them quickly because I have tons more to read. I was unhappy with other books etc. that I have tried because they just slowed me down, no matter how much practice I did.
What will you like? The first thing you will like is you don’t have to spend days trying to figure out what is being said. It is written in a very straightforward method and I got it the first time through. I have been practicing every day and I can tell that my speed is increasing, I just have not checked it. I figured I would work on it by the week and see what happens at the end. It also gives you a site to go to and check your speed that is easy to use. There is no memorizing and no loss of retention…. I took the test to see what amount I retained after the test and it was at 85%. I was thrilled!!!!!! Now knowing there are lots of books and quick scheme things out there to try and I have tried a lot of them…. But this one really worked for me. I hope it will for you! I received this from the author for an honest opinion with no other compensation.
