If you have a desktop with fans inside that sound like a jet engine, this is the solution. This cuts the fan speed in roughly half, extending the life of your fans and quieting them down. This is significantly cheaper than buying new quiet fans and average users don't need them running at 100% speed. Typically, only gaming PC's or heavy multimedia users need massive cooling options and those owners usually run smarter PWM fans where the fan speeds are controlled by the motherboard.

You quiet a computer down ultimately by slowing down the fan. Technology has advanced to the point that you don't need to slow them down nearly as much as we used to, but there's still no such thing as truly silent with what 99% of us are willing to spend. These are short, very effective at limiting the speed (read "noise"). Make sure you're ordering the connectors for the right number of pins you are working with, plug them in and step back to listen. (and keep an eye on your temps...don't want to reduce too much speed!)

This adapter works as expected. It reduces my 120mm computer case fan speed from 1500 rpm to 1200 rpm, thus reduce the noise by half. The adapter uses a resistor to lower the voltage and the resistor does get warm to the point of being uncomfortable but not enough to negate the cooling effect of the reduce speed fan.

I wanted my case fans to be a little quieter so I thought I would try these out. I'm glad I did! These worked perfectly and dropped my computer noise down a bit. You lose a little bit of airflow, but it didn't really affect my temperatures much. These were installed on Cooler Master 120mm Silent Fans.

Can't vouch for its longevity as i only just received them BUT... I recently bought a Rosewill Rise and the fan controller in it only runs the fans at full speed. These were great for cutting down the noise of my system and i would definitely reccomend them

I don't know what voltage they reduce to, but they WILL reduce fan speed and noise as advertised. The only thing to note is that the shrink tube area in the middle does get quite hot if you touch it. I've touched all 10 of the adapters I ordered and they're all the same. I'd keep other kinds of cables away from it just because it seems so prone to melting another cable touching it.

Bought these before I discovered you can actually obtain lower voltage (7V) by rewiring the Molex connector. Still the price is right and I might use them at some point.
