I have used multiple pairs of a previous style of Size 8 Speedo water shoes for 4 years because I enjoy water aerobics. When I received these Zipwalker 4.0 water shoes, I was pleased because this new model seemed to offer more support for your foot. Upon trying them on, I noticed that they were smaller than my previous pair and I thought that they would stretch out more in the water. I have only wore them twice and they bruised the inner edge of my left foot. I am now unable to use them and cannot return them to exchange them for a larger size. I've compared the sole of the new pair and my old Speedo Size 8 water shoes and it is definitely much smaller. I think Amazon should advise that this size 8 Zipwalker fits size 7-8 (as in house shoes). So much for the convenience of online ordering as I will need to go to a sporting good store to physically try on water shoes. I am very very dissatisfied with this purchase. --Corinne (wife of Alee)
They are sturdier than I expected for soles - rubber & cloth, which was totally unexpected.
The rocks, sharp shells, hot sand, and hot asphalt were easily navigated with no pain.
I have a very high arch, and have difficulty with many shoes not fitting me. I would resort to buying wides, and longer shoe sizes to accommodate this. My average shoe size is 8 wide, and for this shoe, with no half sizes available, or wide widths, I ordered size 9. They fit me perfectly, with my toes going almost all to the end, and the zipper and stretch fabric accommodating me to fit comfortably.
I got them wet a few times, and they drain and dry well. I kept them on in the water, and found it easy, and comfortable to walk in. At the end of the beach day, I'd take them off, and remove the insert for them to dry separately. The shoes do take longer than the inserts to dry, and depends on the temperature, wind, and sun that you have them exposed to, so it varies. I would say a couple of days drying inside, with no fan, and a few hours in the sun at the beach with a strong wind was the different lengths I experienced.
I ordered the black/blue and did not experience any of the color rub off that others reported with the pink & black shoes. I also didn't experience any of the bunching of the inside liner that others reported. I think thats going to come down to fit, and type of use. I walked on sandy beaches, wet sand and water, and hot asphalt.
I enjoyed this trip to the beach so much more than usual -- I hate having my shoes fall off walking in the sand, or walking over hot sand. And I really hate gingerly walking over all the sharp sea shells or trash that washes up or left behind by terrible humans.
I think I might have hit the water shoe jackpot with these Speedo Zipwalkers. They are reasonably priced, extremely comfortable, and seem durable (only time will tell.) The comfort comes from two main features: seams that don't rub along the foot, and a foot bed that is protective and has a bit of cushioning. I'm anxious to see if they'll last through an entire summer of kayaking, SUP, and swimming at the lake and in the ocean.
