BOOK 1: 4 STARS - SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES by Claire Delacroix
I am a fan of many of her historical romances. This was certainly different that those.
This was a dark story about a man selling his soul to help a women he loves but hasn't seen in 7 years. He has done many bad deeds to test the theory he can't die yet, nor lose at anything.
There is very little romance in this story, mostly what our H did to help our h. There are kisses, but the lovemaking is off page.
We do get a clever ending and HEA, but as in most novella's I wanted to see what the future held for them, and we have to assume their HEA continued.
BOOK 2: 5 STARS - HER GYPSY LORD by Jane Charles
This was an amazing story and the way this author wrote I could feel all the emotions, excitement, danger and love.
There is lovemaking, within marriage and very mild, but their connection was always felt.
I enjoyed the grandma in this story she added some mystic and mystery.
The way this story was weaved held me from the beginning to the end. We do get HEA and a very unique story line.
BOOK 3: 3 STARS - LADY GHOST AND LORD DEATH: A LOVE STORY by Claudia Dain
This story was hard to get into. We have 2 ghosts as part of the story who never made a connection for me. I think if they had been kind and loving to each other I may have felt different. Their part of the story really dragged.
Then I did like the living H/h but there wasn't a romance so the title is misleading because it isn't a love story.
This is a clean story with only a few kisses. The ending is very abrupt for our ghosts and our main character's. I wanted more, I wanted to know if penance had been paid for our ghosts and wanted HEA for them. I wanted to know more about the H/h. So I can't say we get HEA, because it all felt disjointed to me. I was hoping to have some contact with the character's from the previous two novella's but didn't happen.
The reason so many people are at this castle is for the reading of a Will, which to me ended up being anticlimactic. (ljb)
Lucien de Roye wagers his soul to a demon for seven years good luck so that he may avenge the woman he loved. Sophia Brisbane learns of his wager and tries to save him. Excellent plot, wonderful characters, and villains (both mortal and demon) to make you shiver. 5 Stars
Her Gypsy Lord
Lady Charlotte is tired of being endlessly protected by her older brothers. When she gets a chance, she sneaks off to a Gypsy camp to have her fortune told. There she meets Adam Vail, half-Gypsy, who is heir to a Viscount. Adam and his grandmother work to save her from a malevolent
ghost who intends to kill her. Excellent and exciting story until the ending falls flat. No epilogue to redeem the ending. Deducted one star for poorly done ending and lack of epilogue. 4 Stars
Lady Ghost and Lord Death: A Love Story
The instant Morgan enters the castle, she feels a freezing cold that none of her sisters or any of the other guests seem to feel. One other guest does, Lord Harold Mort, but he is keeping it to himself. The cold is caused by two ghosts, Nell and Roland, who have been haunting the castle for hundreds of years. Nell decides to play matchmaker for the two but Roland, who is against marriage, tries to intervene. I think this story was meant to be humorous, but it was tedious and slow. I only finished it by skimming and even then it felt like it took forever. 2 Stars
This is the fourth and final book in The Haunting of Castle Keyvnor series. I like the concept for this series, which contains a total of twelve related novellas by multiple authors. All the stories take place around All Hallows Eve as family and friends gather at the haunted Castle Keyvnor for the reading of a will. This book can be read as a standalone.
