This book brought back a big deal of pain that I hadn't thought of in such a long time. How a husband could cheat on his wife and not `fess up. Not being truthful to the person they married and living a life of lies and deceit. Then one day, just blurting it out to his wife as if the information were nothing. I remember the day that my mother told me of my father's affair and its consequences. To this day, I have not been able to confront my father and let him know I know what he did to my mother. Have I forgiven my father for what he did? I think I have, but only to a certain point. I want for him to have the courage to tell us, his children, what he did and why. But enough with my sad story. Let's give you a little of what Mason and Amy have been through and how they confronted their demons.
Amy Easton is a spirited woman who brings life to a room when she is around. She does not hold her tongue except when it comes to Mason and his under the table playing. Yum. Amy lost her mother at the age of thirteen, and from that day forward, her life changed forever. She remembered that her mother felt and looked better so they started planning a party for Amy's birthday. They both enjoyed the laughter while planning. But her mother passed a couple of days before her birthday. That was the last time she ever celebrated a birthday or even a holiday. So if the man eyeing the last cranberry sauce thought he was going to grab it first, he had another think coming, because she needed it for her father's first Thanksgiving holiday in a long, long time.
Mason Rider is a man who doesn't do relationships. He believes that he is damaged because of what his father did to his mother. He loved his mother and wanted the best for her since his parents divorced. When Mason was an older teenager, he found his father with another woman in bed. According to his father, his mother knew about his affair. Who in their right mind would believe that it would be okay for their partner to cheat on them? If I were in Mason's place, I would have gone to my mother and asked for an explanation why would she put herself in that situation. Well, Mason believed his father and didn't find out the truth about his father's lie until he overheard him tell his mother he was cheating on her. That's when his regard for his father died.
Mason was going to his mother's home for Thanksgiving and didn't get her message on time about her needing cranberry sauce. So he goes to the supermarket, but just as he was reaching for the last can of cranberry sauce, it flew out of his hand and was about to hit the beautiful woman on the floor. The moment that he touched her to help her off the floor, he felt the energy between them. That's when the woman, Amy, grabbed what he wanted.
Amy and Mason knew that they had a connection, a connection full of lust but they knew they couldn't do anything about it. Nothing would come out of it. Will Mason and Amy come to realize that they care for each other and they should be together? Will Mason finally be able to tell his mother the truth about him knowing his father's adultery? When Amy finally pieced together the real reason why her parents wanted to give her a party years before, will she be able to forgive her father and also her mother?
SPICY WITH A SIDE OF CRANBERRY SAUCE is great read that will have you cheering on Mason and Amy, wanting for them to build a relationship that they both deserve. They both went through so much pain, and they will have your emotions all over the place. You will experience their lust, the want, the pull they have, the pain, sadness, the joy of being together as a family for the holidays.
I truly loved Amy. She was a breath of fresh air and Mason was like a snake ready to strike and have his fill of Amy. The story was a mixture of emotions and Ms. Nichole did an awesome job in the pace of the plot, the development of the two characters, the problems they both had, how it seems that they have so much in common, but especially in having the heart to forgive. I didn't want to put this book down; it had me so entangled that before I knew it, I was turning the last page and the last couple of sentences had me cracking up.
Ms. Nichole, thank you so much for allowing me to review this book, I enjoyed it tremendously. I know that this brought back some not so good memories and had me in tears but it was worth every word. Readers will enjoy Amy's snarky remarks when it comes to Mason.

Ok so this story I found pretty funny with the banter and very hot with the sexual chemistry. Imagine finally getting to celebrate a holiday with your dad and his new girlfriend. Well said girlfriend has you run to the grocery store. You literally fall at the grocery store and "break your ass" but with a hottie there to save you and flirt with....then said hottie gives you his number because he is from outta town you and plan on hooking up in a week after the holidays. When you arrive back to girlfriends house the hottie shows up and is her SON!!! *Que the ominous music* Well the sparks fly because hottie Mason doesn't know his mom is dating and isn't thrilled to spend the holiday with her new boyfriend AND his daughter. Well needless to say Mason and Amy have more sparks on the stairwell of the family home....Giggles. However, Mason's mom says "heck no to messing around with Amy" Mom says Amy is off limits...well ya know how we want what we cant have right???? Anyway, the two of them keep fooling around that holiday weekend but then *Que ominous music again* mom finds out and allllllll hells breaks loose!! Well the "getting caught in the act" causes troubles for Mason's mom and Amy's dad so the two of them have to come up with a plan to smooth things over for their parents.
I have to say the best part of this book is the ending when Amy and Mason get to spend some "quality time" plotting their parents return to dating. I fell in love with these two and the heart strings were pulled because they are both willing to forgo this "Love feeling" to make sure their lonely, miserable parents get a 2nd chance at love. The scene is set for Christmas and it is a great ending.
I must admit, I would love love love to see more Mason and Amy in another novella perhaps?? I just enjoyed their chemistry.
I really enjoyed this cute story and can't thank Rachell enough for letting me review her book. I still have another book of hers that I will be reviewing in the next week or so. I hope you give this amazing new author a chance. This story was written and paced great. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
Very well written, the author allows you to feel the conflicting emotions Amy and Mason are going through, and also the extent of their growing desire for each other. The dialogue rings true, and the sexy scenes make you feel like you're there. If you like your books spicy but with emotional depth, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.
His words caressed her inside and out, and she feared she might come apart in his arms, right there on the dance floor in front of everyone if he spoke much more.
Honestly, this is my first holiday book ever. And I think I will try some more in the future. I mainly wanted the book because. . .let's face it the cover is hot and awesome! lol.
So this is a Thanksgiving novella, which usually would make me vomit just saying that, but. . .the cover lured me.
The book begins with a battle over a can of cranberry sauce. Yes. Cranberry Sauce. lol.
Then an awkward realization before Thanksgiving dinner. . .
I did enjoy the novella, but I gave it only 3.5 because I really wish it was longer and at times I believe I knew what was going to happen next.
All and all, this was an enjoyable read and I will be checking out more from Rachell Nichole!
