Once you add it to a dish, it smells more eggy. I first tried it by adding it to a simple salad. It tasted EXACTLY like there was a hard-boiled egg in it. I have made a few vegan dishes with this and it is incredible! I even used it in a "carbonara" style dish and it really added the egg flavor.
If you can get past the initial smell of the salt, you'll love it. If you can't, blame it on the dog and move on.
I saw someone else here say that the salt could have a bit more of an "eggy" taste, and I actually think that that's kind of true. From what I noticed about it, the smell of it seemed to be far more potent than the actual taste of it. At the same time, though, I probably can't really tell too much of a difference, given my aforementioned disgust for eggs.
Anyhow, if you're using this product for the first time, I would highly recommend going easy with this stuff — a little goes a long way (no more than a teaspoon); though if you can tolerate the odorous smell and taste of this, then hey, more power to you.
