This adapter took ages to arrive (over 3 weeks), although within the estimated timeframe. The postmark was Hong Kong, so maybe that explains it. Out of the packet, the plastic covers weren't fixed together properly, and the metal plug was loose. No idea if this was due to damage in transit or just poor assembly & quality control. It quickly snapped together though, and I assume there was no damage done.
I am using this to connect a UK DVD player with a SCART socket to my US TV through RCA connectors. I previously bought the 'HDE RGB SCART Male to 3-RCA Female Adapter', but that seemed set up only for input, and didn't work at all. As expected, the input/output switch on this adapter did the trick. I can now get a picture, but it's in black & white, and it rolls on 2 out of 4 TVs I tried it on. So still not watchable. I get the message you can't just hook up a European DVD player to a US TV, no matter what adapter you buy. Maybe later players with HDMI connectors are different, but for me, it's back to wiring up my laptop and playing that through the TV. How stupid that all my computers can play DVDs from any country, but all my dedicated DVD players can't.
So the adapter didn't work for me, but perhaps this was just a matter of the wrong application. I have yet to try the S-video connector, but I don't hold out much hope for that either.
