Whoever designs headphones for Apple has very different ears to me. even back to the early iPod days, I've never been able to wear them. They're either super uncomfortable or they slide out. I love the design and the concept of the AirPods, and got my hands on a pair a few months ago. And sure enough, they wouldn't stay in my ear at all. After a little research, I found these Earhooks and figured it was worth a shot. It was that or selling the AirPods.

Well, what can I say. These little things work perfectly. I can even go for a run with them in and they don't budge. They're so comfortable I even forget I'm wearing them.

My only gripe (and it's more with Apple than Spigen) is having to carry them. The AirPods will not fit in the charging case with the covers on, so they have to be removed - which is a very fast and simple process, so no big deal. Except now I have to carry the AirPods in their case and the ear hooks separately. It would be great if someone could make an AirPod cover with a little pocket to carry the ear hooks.

Anyway, for anyone else who doesn't have ears that comply with Apple's design ideas, these are a must buy (and if Apple cared about ear diversity, they should include them with every AirPod purchase).

I was hesitant to get these due to several bad reviews (I always read the bad ones to see what the caveats might be), but have found that while I understand what they didn't like, I don't think most people would have a problem. I'll use this space to briefly explain why:

- Reviewer complained that they're very hard and don't feel comfortable, but I have to say, they're the right amount of firmness to keep in your ear and the silicon texture is no harder than any other bluetooth earpiece's fitting, so I would say, if you can do those, these are a little better. (Pro Tip Related to the hardness issue: I accidentally left these in my hot car one day and found that they were quite malleable after that, but still firm enough. If these are too firm, consider perhaps warming a wet hand towel in the microwave and then placing it on them for a few seconds. Might do the trick.)
- I also read reviews about how annoying it is to take these off before putting AirPods back in their case, but again, if you want to work out, it's really not that big a deal and after I mine were exposed to some heat (see above), they slip on and off in seconds.
- Conversely, I read reviews about similar covers slipping off easily and damaging their AirPods, but I never have that issue with these.
- Someone mentioned that these are hard to put on and I can see why, because they do look complex, but honestly, there's an "R" and "L" on them and I can't imagine how you can get that wrong. You sort of have to just put them through the hole and try not to worry that your brain doesn't understand how it works. It does and if you just try, they will fit on there easily. I don't know if there were instructions though. Didn't use them once I saw the "R" & "L".

Anywho, I don't write many reviews, but these were pretty good and thought I'd help someone else who wasn't born with Apple's idea of a perfect ear. Feel free to ask any questions.

These certainly do what they are designed to do, which is to keep your AirPods in place. I haven't tried working out in them, but from just normal day to day use, they stay put, and that was my main objective. I recommend practicing putting them on and taking them off a few times to find out what process works best for you. For me, I just position the AirPods in my ear where I want them, then press the ear loop into the fold in my ear. Works fine that way for me, but YMMV.

The volume is a "wee" bit lower but in no way what I would consider it to be TOO low. Let's call it 90-95% original volume. These covers do seem to keep the AirPods firing in the right direction though, so I didn't find myself trying to change the direction of the sounds. I just pushed them in tighter on occasion to hear a little more volume.

I really had no issue installing the covers, but some reviewers seem to struggle a bit with that. It's understandable, because the design does not make installation completely intuitive. The instructions on the box are pretty much useless, but you can read them if you need help. A YouTube video would probably be helpful for some.

As others have said, probably the biggest downside is that you have to take them off to charge your AirPods. It's not Spigen's fault so it wouldn't be fair to ding them for that. It's just the way it is, and Apple insists on continuing to make smooth and slippery (and very white) ear pieces.

(Side rant: I have no idea why Apple refuses to make earpieces with a bit more grip or to provide some alternative solution, e.g. an OEM cover that could be used while charging. I guess they just really love that slippery white plastic. Weird.)

If you are like me and find that ear buds or the Apple Airpods just don't fit properly in your ears, then this product makes them fit and hold in place. When I first got them back in July 2017, they fit great and I couldn't even tell that I had them in. I never had to worry about them falling out!
For the money, they are a really good product, but as I soon learned, they don't last forever. In fact, after 4 or 5 months they start to stretch and lose their fit. Since the Airpods have to be charged in their case, these earhooks have to be taken off after every use. They eventually stretch a little and lose their tight fit, so the Airpods start to slip a little and start to fall out of my ears.
I just ordered a new pair and will see if I run into the same problem after a few months.

These work awesome. I had originally purchased the earhoox and after losing one, decided to try these out. The earhoox weren’t bad, but these Spigen ones make my AirPods fit much more securely. Also, with the earhoox I lost functionality... if one fell out, the AirPods would continue playing music and the tapping function didn’t work. It’s because the earhoox cover the sensors.

That’s not the case with these. Spigen keep all of the functionality but also keep the AirPods securely in your ears. The holes are very well placed.

Taking them on and off to charge is annoying, but that’s the case with all of these AirPods covers.

If you’re deciding between the earhoox and Spigen, I would go with Spigen.
