Precision case that is worthy of an iPhone 6

I really am hard to please and critical but this is a GREAT CASE! I definitely recommend it, and recommend a case in general. The new iPhone 6 as you know is bigger and the hand feel is different. Sounds obvious right? But the fact is you will drop it. The normal hand movements I used with my iPhone 5 were so common they become muscle memory. And in my case, until you retrain your self to hold and use the bigger phone, you will fumble it and may drop it like I did.

Good thing I ordered this case as soon as I got my pre-order confirmation. It came the same day as the phone and was on it right after I set it up and tested it. Lucky for me when I did drop it, it was protected and the case did it's job! No issues!

Here is what I like about the case.
- looks great! The black TPU and red aluminum band really look sharp with the white face of my phone. First class look!
- The aluminum buttons have a great feel. Not 100% Apple good, but much nicer than plastic, silicone, or leather. Let's just say it's the closest thing to the Apple button feel I have ever found in an iPhone case.
- The fit is very precise. The TPU case fits perfectly on the phone, and the aluminum band is amazingly precise. It's difficult to get on, but once you do it stays in place. I was skeptical it would until I tried it and it does.
- The TPU back keeps the phone from sliding on smooth surfaces, like the polished wood console of my car. This was a must have feature, and this case delivers. It stays where I put it.
- Even though the case has a raised 0.8mm lip to protect the face of the phone, it does not interfere with the functions of the phone. I have had other cases that had a lip so big that I ran into it when swiping gestures. That's a deal breaker, but this case is perfect. Protection without interference.
- No interference with phone antennas. Other reviews speculate that the aluminum band reduces reception. I can tell you that's not true. I have very clear limits to cell reception in my house. I know exactly where the ATT single cuts out. I also know exactly where the wifi drops in the back yard. I tested the new iPhone 6 without the case, and verified where the cell and wifi drop out. The cell cuts out in the same place, but the new iPhone holds the wifi much better. Then I retested with the case on, and no difference. None! The case has no effect on the antenna function.

What I would change about this case:
- The installation instructions are not very good, clear, or helpful. This is a very precise case and has to be installed correctly. First put the TPU cover on by itself and make sure the lip is seated properly all the way around. The first time I tried to install the case I had a slightly curled under lip at the bottom of the phone. I didn't notice it, but the aluminum band was bent out by the charging port. At first I though it was a poor quality case that did't fit worth a darn. Then I noticed the TPU cover was not seated correctly. Took it all off and put the TPU back on making sure it was seated perfectly all the way around, Then installed the band and presto a precision fit. So it's a two step process to infall the case. Cover first, band second, That was not clear in the limited instructions.
- Putting on the band is challenging and requires some finger dexterity and strength. This is to be expected with the precision fit since it is a single piece aluminum (metal) band you are putting on. The TPU cover will compress enough to get it on, but be prepared to put some effort into it. The good news is once it's on, it's stays in place!
- The band has cut outs for the charging port, earbuds, and speaker at the bottom that are a bit rough on my fingers. I tend to support the bottom of the phone with my little finger and it seems to keep finding the cut outs. This is a minor concern but some smoothing of the edge of the cutout would be better that it is currently.

Over the years I have had 5 different iPhones and dozens of cases, too many to count. Most were rejected because of "deal breakers", you know those little details that you just can't overlook and live with. This case has none of those in my opinion. Looks great, feels like quality because they are using high quality materials, and does the job. Yes is does provide impact protection, unfortunately I can attest to that. I actually bought this case so I would have something when my phone arrived, knowing Apple would sell out of the Apple cases as fast as they sell out of phones, and they did. It was originally going to be a stop gap case until I could pick an Apple case I preferred. However now that I have it, have used it, gotten tons of compliments on it, and checked out the Apple cases, I am keeping this one as my iPhone case. As soon as I finish writing this I will order another as back up for when my first one get scratched, dinged, or dented. I admit it, I'm picky about my stuff especially my phone. No room for compromise here. And this is my case of choice.

The best case if you know how to install it

I can only speculate the reason for bad reviews on this case. I had Neo Hybrid on iPhone 5S and loved it, that's the reason this was the first no-brainer choice for me when iPhone 6 arrived. I was really skeptical seeing this may poor reviews about buttons, still decided to order it counting that I can return it if it's bad.

Well the case arrive same day I got the iPhone 6 (10/01/14). I carefully put it on and it's PERFECT. It's slim, it's stays on firm, it's attractive, the buttons work well and don't require additional force and it costs third of what Apple would charge for it. The front lip is just the right thickness to raise glass above flat surface, yet not obstructive for hands or pockets. Yes, the mute switch is deeply recessed, but that's the point. Although it was the same on iPhone 5S case model, on iPhone 6 the switch is very easy to trip by accident because of new round edge design. This case completely eliminates this scenario. I am a man with short nails, and yes it takes little effort to reach the switch, but I can do it - this is what I want.

Now about the BAD. My speculation for the negative reviews is that people don't know how to properly put it on. Spigen failed here, because there are absolutely no instructions how to put it on. I we all think: "it's a plastic case, they all the same, I can figure it out". Well, the truth about this case is that: there is little trick to put it on, it's easy to break bumper during installation, it's very easy to loose or dislocate the buttons during installation. Finally, it's hard to remove as well. So, if you plan on removing the phone from the case once a month or more often - this is not for you.

I hope Spigen will fix the lack of instructions or better - video on how to install it. But here's my recommendation:
1) Put black rubber part of the case on correctly (easy)
2) Put the phone face down
3) Inspect the buttons in the bumper are in place and aligned correctly
4) Put bumper piece on the top edge of the phone first completely
5) CAREFULLY: push the rest of the bumper down toward the bottom edge of the phone, keeping the the phone in place with thumbs pressing from the bottom edge up. IMPORTANT: Keep an eye that bumper buttons:haven't fell out and still aligned
6) once you reach the bottom edge, the bumper is hard to put on. Be careful here, it's easy to break thin plastic bumper with excessive twist. But carefully you can push it on no problem.
That's it. Verify everything fell in place and working properly.

To remove:
The method that works for me does not require removing bumper first!
1) Hold the phone with two hands on bottom edge upside down and facing away (like a wet t-shirt).
2) with your thumbs in the corners, on the back of the phone, and other fingers holding the edge from the phone front
3) slowly push the phone through the case with your thumbs until the bottom of the phone pops out of the case
4) now just rotate the phone as comfortable and remove the case completely with the bumper still on
5) You can now separate the bumper from rubber case if necessary for putting case back on. This is the moment where bumper buttons often fell out.

UPDATE 10/09/14:
I have received the RED model (red bumper) of the same case. Visually it is better looking to me, BUT I did indeed confirmed the button issue on this variation. Power/sleep button requires significant amount of pressure, volume buttons are more responsive, but still take extra effort compared to buttons on Gunmetal colored model. I tried swapping the bumpers - no difference, so the rubber piece is fine. And although I coulnt tell difference on bumper other than color, I decided to try swapping buttons. It's not that hard, they just pop out if you can manage to hold plastic bumper without a twist and push them from outside in. Pushing them back in place was much easier. AND...that solved the issue. Under magnifying glass it became noticeable that bad buttons protrude just a few micron less on the inside, so they simply don't reach the phone button surface. Technically putting something in between should work, and perhaps that what "stabilizer" is.

Hallo liebe Amazonler!

Heute schreibe ich über das Case von SPIGEN für das neue iPhone 6 in der 4,7 Zoll Variante, bestellt habe ich mir die schwarz-gelbe Variante.

Nun, wir alle wissen wohl, da es bereits Kunden gab die das Case zum Releasetag des iPhone 6 hatten dass die Produktion der Cases teilweise auch auf "Verdacht" und allen geleakten Größen entstanden ist, da Apple sich wie gewohnt eben mit Neuheiten sehr bedeckt hält. So wurde eben produziert und wir, als neue iPhone 6 Besitzer dürfen die Hüllen nun testen.

Die Passgenauigkeit der Hülle ist sehr gut, bestehen tut sie aus einem "Bumper" und eben der Rückseite, die jedoch eben zusammen das "Case" bilden.
Fangen wir mit der Rückseite an, sie weist einen guten Grip auf und liegt angenehm in der Hand. Die Riffelung, wie auf den Produktbildern zu sehen ist nehme ich im normalen Gebraucht nicht so stark wahr.
Die Aussparung für die Kamera ist der Höhepunkt, denn das Case ist genau so "dick", dass die Problematik des iPhone 6 (dass ja eine herausragende Kamera hat und welches ohne Hülle auf dem Tisch "wippen" würde) komplett behoben wird! Die Kamera ist dementsprechend wieder "geschützt" und das Gerät kann schön "plan" auf dem Tisch aufliegen, ohne zu wackeln! Top!

Kommen wir nun zu den Seiten;

Wie schon von anderen Rezensenten angesprochen, besitzen die von Haus aus gelieferten Cases keinen Druckpunkt und die Betätigung von LAUTER bzw. LEISER geht nur schwer von statten, da man entweder viel Kraft benutzen muss, oder man eben unbeabsichtigt beide Tasten gleichzeitig drückt.
Diese Problematik wird seitens SPIGEN mit den "Button Stabilizer" umgangen, zwei Klebefolien die zur Stabilisierung dienen - auf meiner Anfrage her reagierte SPIGEN in kürzester Zeit damit, dass die Stabilizer nun bei allen Bestellen inklusive sind (meine Bestellung erfolgte am 24 Sep.)
Nach der leichten Montage der Buttons funktionieren die Tasten einwandfrei!

Ein Punkt gefällt mir nur leider gar nicht, die Aussparung für den "Mute" Schalter von Apple, dieser ist doch sehr schmal gehalten und Menschen mit größeren Fingern haben leichte Probleme dort ran zu kommen, insbesondere wenn man keine längeren Fingernägel hat. Oftmals ist das kein Problem, weil viele ihr iPhone nicht zu oft Muten und Entmuten, aber für die, die es tun kann das ganz nervig sein.

### UNTEN ###

Unten haben wir die Aussparungen für den Lautsprecher, dem Lightning Stecker sowie den 3,5mm Klinkenstecker.
Die Lautsprecher funktionieren mit Case immer noch sehr gut und der Sound des iPhone ist noch verständlich.
Der Lightning Stecker selber in Form des Kabels funktioniert gut, habe 3 Kabel getestet und alle passen noch gescheit durch das Case.

Einzig und allein eine Docking Station kann ich mit dem Case nicht benutzen bzw. nur mit Aufwand von ein wenig Gewalt, aber man kann leider auch nicht immer die Kompatibilität von allen Stationen und Hüllen etc. erwarten zumal nur wenige Millimeter fehlen.

Der Eingang für den 3,5 mm Klinkenstecker ist super ausgespart. Ich selber benutze Kopfhörer von Beats by Dr. Dre und diese passen auch noch gut rein, schön dass daran gedacht wurde!

### RECHTS ###

Dort befindet sich ja nun der Power Button, durch die Button Stabilizer funktioniert hier alles auch ganz gut, sonst kann man dazu nicht viel sagen.

Mein Fazit: Sobald ihr das Case habt mit den Button Stabilizern ist euer iPhone bestens für die kommenden Jahre gewappnet!
Besonders hervorheben sollte man den 1A Kundenservice von SPIGEN, ich habe nach kurzer Zeit direkt eine Rückmail bekommen in der mir gesagt wurde dass die Button Stabilizer nun bei jeder Bestellung enthalten sein werden und ich und jeder andere weiterhin kostenfrei welche anfordern könnten!

Good quality product and adequate protection

I have used this case for a little over a week.

The case comes well packaged in a hard plastic casing that's easy to open and looks of good quality.

This is essentially a rubber case with a bumper surround which locks in place to avoid movement of the rubber portion and protect from drops.

The rubber portion fits snuggly over the iPhone and you have to push it firmly into place. It doesn't look or feel like it will move much even with the most careless of movements. Once fitted I'm fairly sure it would not come off. The back of the case has a design of tiny squares cut out which gives it more grip and purchase when holding and/ore putting on a car pad mount or something similar. It feels good too.

The bumper fits over the case and slots in right up to a lip on the rubber part to stop it from falling over to the other side and coming off again.It looks and feels sturdy but as I have had no drop I'm not sure how much protection it would give. In saying that, if it were to break or snap after a drop but protect the phone then in my eyes it has done it's job and I would happily buy another.

There have been complaints about this product where people have said the power and volume buttons do not align properly. I can't speak for those reviews but my case aligns perfectly and the volume and sleep/power buttons all work without any problems.

My only concern with the case is that it doesn't give protection to the screen. If it were to drop screen first then it would most likely break the screen unless it fell at an odd angle and ended up completely flat so that the rubber edges all landed first (unlikely). This is a part of the product I feel is misleading as it says in the description "a completely reimagined dual layer bumper style case that provides full coverage of your iPhone 6". Obviously the screen cannot be covered and there are different cases to buy if you want that but I feel that it should mention that there is no screen protection (although this is pedantic I know!).

I also bought a tempered class screen protector which coupled with the case gives adequate protection.

Button Issue Update 25/09/2012

Yes Spigen have contacted me regarding the button issue and have offered to send me a button stabiliser. While this is commendable and they have admitted that there is a problem, I could just return it for a refund. I'm also not quite clear on the process to get these stabilisers, might be good if they provided a link through Amazon.

I use two different cases on my iPhones depending on where I am or where I am going. The Otterbox defender for those days when extra protection is needed when I'm in work boots, overalls and safety vests, then the Spigen when I have my days wearing a suit.

The iPhone 6 arrived today the 19th and the case fits like a glove. However the on off button, now on the side loses a bit of feel to it when pressing the 'case' button. There is also a lack of feel with the volume buttons.
You will really need to press hard, really really hard to engage the buttons, too hard. The textured back give a fair amount of grip though the metalised side are just a tad slippery. I think the yellow makes it stand out.

The best thing about the case is that it adds very little bulk to the phone but prevents accidental scratches and bumps. It still feels like an iPhone instead of a box.

If you are looking for more extreme protection for your phone then the Otterbox is your best bet, but for everyday use this case is ideal.

My only concern is the lack of screen protector. Again I generally use Spigen Glas to protect the screen as it is more like the real screen glass and I don't understand why Spigen don't ever package the two together.

All in all it is a well made case in grippy textured TPU with a Yellow outer band that stands out.

However the strength needed to engage the volume and on off buttons lets the case down significantly though the case offers good protection.

Don't forget to regularly take the case off and clean inside just in case a bit of gritty grit gets inside and rubs away at the vulnerable anodised aluminium (Space Grey is prone to this kind of damage).

Why put a case on what some term a work or art? Think of the resale value of your phone, unmarked you'll get at least 60% of the value when you sell it to upgrade to the new model next year.

Eines der besten Cases!

Hi, ich habe mir sehr viele Cases für das iPhone 6S ausprobiert aber bei fast jeder war das Problem das mir etwas an "wertigkeit" fehlt. Bei der ist es nicht der Fall! Ich mag generell Spigen Produkte und habe auch sehr viele Hüllen, Zubehör, Folien etc. von dem Hersteller gekauft.

Für mich persönlich ist für das iPhone 6S das Spigen Neo Hybrid Metal und das Tough Armor Case optimal! Die anderen Ultra Hybrid, Neo Hybrid gefallen mir nicht so sehr am iPhone.

Nun das war meine kleine Story kommen wir zu diesem Neo Hybrid Metal Case erstmal paar positive Punkte:
+ sitzt beim ansetzen richtig gut! (Ihr solltet es genau machen wie an der Anleitung beschrieben, sonst kann der Rahmen bei der Ladebuchse abbrechen).
+ die Tasten Power, lauter und leiser lassen sich sehr gut drücken.
+ fühlt sich Prima an man spürt regelrecht wie wertig verarbeitet ist.
+ funktioniert problemlos mit dem Spigen Air Mount Magnet.

Nun das waren meine positiven Punkte aber leider gibts auch ein paar negative diese sind:
- man merkt das z.B. bei einer WLAN Verbindung das Signal deutlich abschwächt woran der Metallrahmen schuld ist (vielleicht mal so paar Plastikunterbrechungen unterbringen?). Für mich ist das nicht so tragisch aber ein paar von euch könnte es stören.
- Mute Switch etwas schwierig zu erreichen - das ist eigentlich generell ein Problem bei fast allen iPhone Cases das man den Switch kaum erreichen kann.

Das waren meine Punkte ich bin zufrieden und kann es ohne weiteres weiterempfehlen für die Leute die ein Case suchen was edel ist!

Hallo zusammen,

habe heute mein iPhone 6 4,7'' und das SPIGEN Neo Hybrid Case in gelb bekommen. iPhone Top - Case Flop!!!
Das Case liegt wirklich gut in der Hand und ist wie von SPIGEN bekannt, sehr passgenau. Allerdings habe ich direkt die gleiche Erfahrung gemacht wie ein Teil meiner Vorredner. Die Bedienung der Seitentasten ist unterste Schublade, absolut kein Druckpunkt vorhanden und mann muss wirklich Kraft aufwenden um überhaupt eine Reaktion herbeizuführen. Für mein 5s hatte ich 5 SPIGEN Cases und alle waren Top, das hier ist die pure Enttäuschung. Vor 1 Std. ausgepackt, und jetzt schon wieder eingepackt und versandfertig für die Rücksendung! Das ist mir echt maximal 1 Stern wert, da kann die Hülle noch so passgenau und schick sein.

Schade, ich werde noch eine zweite SPIGEN ausprobieren, mal gucken, vielleicht sogar noch eine zweite NEO HYBRID, weil ich das Design echt gelungen finde, wenn die auch wieder nichts ist, dann werde ich einen anderen Hersteller suchen müssen.

Gestern abend bin ich von SPIGEN kontaktiert worden. Mir wurde mitgeteilt, daß das Problem bekannt sei und eine Lösung vorliegt. Die Knöpfe werden wohl ausgetauscht und sollen dann einwandfrei funktionieren. Nachdem ich diese erhalten habe werde ich erneut testen und die Rezension hier anpassen.

Habe heute die "Button stabilizer" von SPIGEN erhalten. Im ersten Moment hab ich gedacht: "Was soll das denn bringen?"
Zwei Mini Klebestreifen, die von innen auf die Buttons geklebt werden. Naja, gesagt getan und siehe da, es funktioniert einwandfrei. So ist das Case perfekt.

TOP: Nur aufgrund meiner Rezension hier bei amazon, hat sich SPIGEN bei mir gemeldet und das Problem konnte wirklich sehr schnell behoben werden.

P.S.: Bei dem Neo Hybrid Metal, soll diese Nacharbeit nicht notwendig sein, also überlegt euch ob Ihr nicht die paar Euronen mehr ausgebt und das noch hochwertigere Case bestellt.
