This case is extremely very good looking. The Bumper is truly Aluminum...NOT plastic. This case will add some extra weight to the Note 4 since the bumper is made of Aluminum and the case itself is a bit thicker. I do like how the phone feels in my hands..nice grip. What I love the most is that the chamfered edges mimics how the note 4 chamfered edges are. Do keep in mind that chamfered edges will scratch. The Note 4 Chamfered edges are scratche on my Note 4 simply due to putting on and off cases. I expect that the chamfered edges on this case will also scratch in a couple of days.
I am not giving the case a 5 star since the microphone hole on the left does not line up to the Note 4 Verizon microphone position. I might modify the bumper to make the hole wider. I noticed that the bumper is the issue with the small holes. The TPU shell does have the wide left mic opening. Spigen should have made the metal bumper the exact same width of the TPU shell and boila the problem and the MINUS one stars will go away.
I did notice that there is a hollow gap between the TPU and the metal bumper.
I am assuming that the microphone even though it seems covered will still work just fine.
Seems like the sound will travel thru the metal frame's hole and into the phone via the hollow gap between the TPU shell and the metal frame.
I've attached some images of the case on my Note 4.
I have used this case for over 2 years and wears its battle scars proudly.
No cracked screen and I have this case to thank.
The case fits like a glove around my Note 4.
The first layer is TPU case that you place your phone into. It feels like rubber and is super durable.
You then place an outer hard plastic bumper around that case.
It does add some girth and weight to the case but it is well worth the protection.
I have dropped my phone numerous times onto concrete and the small gashes in the case are better than a cracked screen.
The buttons on your Note 4 will be covered by the case's buttons. They have the same clicky tactile feedback as your phone's buttons.
The PORTS: Headphone port needs to be larger. My Shure 215 does not fit so I have to use a 3 inch adapter.
Charging PORT: It is large but some micro usb cables feel a little to snug. I can see a slight angle/bend when I insert them. I either trim the cable with an exacto knife or use a different cable. The Samsung branded white cable works perfectly.
Pen PORT: It can easily be removed and inserted without obstruction.
TLDR: A sleek case that provides maximum protection for your phone. If your favorite headphones have a fatty male plug, buy a short 3.5mm cable. 95% of charging cables will fit into this case.
The other issue is the metal on the left side of the case is slightly bowed out. Its not so bad that you can visibly seeit, but you can notice it when you hold it. I can probably bend it back if I can figure out how to get the case back off.
On the plus side, the case looks awesome and holds true to the style of the Note 4. It also seems very sturdy and protective.
UPDATE: Took a 150+ mile drive this weekend and the metal part of the case blocks GPS unless you're sitting still. Even then, still very weak signal. With case off, 20+ satellites in view and 8 locked, but as soon as I put the case back on, my Note 4 losses all satellite locks and can only see 3 satellites. Needless to say, the case ruins such a good phone.
The reviews were good and the price was well within my budget so I figured it couldn't hurt to try it. I received the package on time and it was sent in the original (sturdy) packaging with no damage at all. When I opened the package and began to examine it I noticed that the outer part of the case was made of plastic. Now, Amazon has the product listed correctly, as I discovered afterwords. A different site I went to listed it as being actual metal (aluminium to be exact) and not plastic that looks like metal. But that's okay, for the price I paid I couldn't expect it to be metal now could I?
Once on, the case formed to my phone very well. I am a T-Mobile customer and this case matched up perfectly with any and all ports/speakers. I have read that Verizon customers are having issues with the bottom holes aligning. Not the case with my T-Mobile phone. The case is very slim and it fits comfortably in my small hands. I love the textured back and the overall appearance it gives to my phone. All the ports and the stylus are easily accessible with no resistance what so ever. The power and volume buttons are nice and do not feel cheap. The are very responsive to touch with no extra pressure needed.
I have yet to test how well it preforms when the phone is dropped. The overall thinness of the case makes me question it a little, however the way it holds the phone snug would make one assume it would absorb a small impact.
I really like this case and would definitely consider purchasing more from Spigen in the future.
