The media could not be loaded.

It took me some time to find a case for my Galaxy Note 9. Ultimately I decided to settle on this one. At first it was uneasy to use my device with this case but I attribute this to me not being used to having a case on my phone at all (I dislike cases). After about a week or so I became accustomed to it. It doesn't feel like something is in the way anymore. All of the buttons are covered completely. They're still easy to press. The buttons on the case are a little stiff at first but after pressing them enough times over a few days, they loosen up. All ports are still accessible and so is the S Pen. The fingerprint sensor is not obstructed in any way and swiping on it to pull down the notification shade is smooth. The Bixby button is ridged which is very nice because I have it mapped to turn on my flashlight. No more wondering if I'm pressing volume down or the Bixby button. The top and bottom have a raised lip. Unfortunately the sides do not sense the display on the Note 9 is curved. That is an issue of the phone not the case. However, despite this, it still protected my screen when I dropped my phone face first last week just an inch or two above my shoulder (I'm 5'7 for reference😭). My phone survived UNSCATHED.

The kickstand is cool AF. I do wish that it was a little longer, stiffer, and offered a better vewing angle for viewing content. It doesn't work vertically. LMAO whilst typing this I just figured out how to get a better viewing angle for landscape viewing.

ALL IN ALL I like this. I look forward to buying another Spigen Tough Armor case for my next Galaxy device. Perhaps some of these issues I see have been rectified on later models for different devices by Samsung.

TL;DFR: cool case, pretty ergonomic, kickstand is good but could be better, decent protection, accessible ports, somewhat stiff buttons. An L-shaped headphone gets into the jack!

Short version? Amazing case. Best you can get that protects your phone, while also not being in the way.

Long version? I have had this case for over 2 years now going on 3 for my note 9. Paired it with a tempered glass screen protector and its been a dream. I work in office as well as turning wrenches on the side and am just generally known for being tough on everything I own with no exception for my phone. I've thrown it, slammed it, dropped it off the roof, recorded video underwater, put it in the engine bay with a running engine to record video and diagnose a problem. You name it this phone case has been through the ringer. And nothing has cracked. No buttons torn, hell even the kickstand is still with me. All this protection while still looking sleek and not being too bulky. Fits easily going in and out of my pants, be it business or casual, and also has enough grip on it for me to not drop it but also not so much that it snags on pants when pulling it out. Its literally the perfect balance. Know the triangle rule? Pick 2 of 3. Protection, usability, and pricing. Idk how they did it but spigen nailed all 3. Solid 5 stars. My ONE GRIPE is the buttons. They're a little on the stiff side, but hey, that can also be a pro. You will hardly ever hit the buttons by accident C: oh and because amazon said to mention it, fingerprint reader is super easy to find and use with this case, the phone is easy to hold & manipulate and yes. It's durable AF. Literally rolled end over end on concrete and chucked the stylus out of the phone it hit so hard and it does not care. Several times in 2 years.

If you have had or presently own a Note 9... there's not much to say as others have already said it. This is a beast phone, even in 2021! The Spigen Tough Armor case compliments this phone so well it's as if it was designed by Samsung as an OEM part. The Tough Armor is extremely thin but sturdy and feels substantial in the hand without feeling chunky or weighted. Protection-wise this case earns 5 stars, no problem. This reviewer's phone has, over time, been dropped on hard surfaces, granite, floors (linoleum and carpet) and rides day-in and day-out in bags, pockets and backpacks and has not received any heavy scratching or damage of any sort. Not to rag on iPhones (too much) but this reviewer's past experience with iPhones reveals that no matter which iteration, iPhones seems to become bricks no matter what aftermarket case is put on those phones. They're sort of brick-like already but the Note 9, that might be best described as a slab of sexy obsidian glass, just slips into the Tough Armor case with a few simple steps. Once in, the Note becomes an armored beast with little-to-no addition of girth, chunk, or boxiness. As an additional benefit, this case really makes it hard to inadvertently activate the insanely stupid Bixby feature with an etched tab that covers the Bixby button. You literally have to force your finger to depress it to activate the Bixby feature. And if you map the Bixby button to activate only on the second press, it's as if the Bixby is off the phone entirely. This alone might be a reason to purchase this case!

Excellent, solid two-part build and colour nicely compliments the Ocean Blue. Didn't expect that I would prefer this over the Neo Hybrid as the Tough Armor is not really bulkier in terms of actual day to day usage - the Note 9 is a bit bulky and heavy anyway - and offers better protection. It is also the perfect balance between grippy without collecting every bit of dust in your pocket. Even the hard plastic back shell is coated in a grippy but smooth rubber layer which has a great in-hand feel. Fingerprints are not an issue at all. There's the kickstand too which I haven't really used. All the cutouts are nicely finished meaning no rough edges. This really is a high quality case at a very reasonable price.

Does not protect the screen!

Ok so what is the most important part of your phone? The screen.
What is most likely to be scratched or break? The screen.
So imagine my surprise when I opened up my new protective case kit and the one thing it does not protect is....you guessed it, the screen.
Looks like this would of upped the price a lot for a decent one but its the most important part to protect.

So with this case you get drop protection on the sides and corners but do not count on it protecting your screen.

The kickstand is handy but is on the wrong side of the phone, it means when it is on the stand you lose access to the volume buttons (which double up as media control buttons)

Those two issues aside it seems fairly sturdy and well made (if not well thought out)

I had both the Tough Armor and the Rugged Armor, but decided to keep the Tough Armor mainly because of the kick-stand. It's a very well made case which does seem to offer good all-round protection. It has a raised lip at the top and bottom so the screen doesn't touch the surface should you place the phone face down.

The case doesn't cause any problems with a TGSP or a wet-applied screen protector that I've been using. I don't find the kick-stand as flimsy as some people say, and it is sturdy enough when in use. Wireless charging also fine with the case on.

Only slight negative is that some of the coating on the back isn't that durable as some has started to come off - particularly a patch around the fingerprint scanner. Still, I would definitely consider buying this same case again for my next phone.

Not very tough, after only a couple of days the rear coating started peeling off. My last one for my Note 8 was fine and the one for my S7 Edge was the best one. Seems the quality is reducing but not the price. Won't be coming back again. Very disappointed
