Holds my phone in place

Holds phone securely in place through a case. Just put the included metal disk inside your case and the magnetism will go through the case and grab the phone and hold it to the mount. It even came with TWO metal thingies, I guess if you have a wife or a kid and want to both use the mount in a shared car.

Leaving the phone on the mount is great. It allows you to quickly glance at music playing or the map without having to reach down or hold the phone and take your eyes off the road. Honestly a phone mount should be a standard safety feature in vehicles.

It works well for a few weeks at a time but every now and then the magnetism is so great when I remove my phone from the mount, it dislodges the mount from the air vent. And then I have to wait til a light or a parking space to put it back on. But hey, it costs $7. If you want something engineered by Elon Musk and Nasa, then go pay for it. I'm happy with my $7 solution,

Stronger Magnet Needed

I am using this in a 2014 Prius and a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. The mount works well in the Prius since it's a newer car and the vents are stiff. I mount the phone in the center console and can easily reach it for navigational purposes. However on the Tacoma since the vents are olderr the weight of my iPhone 7 weighs down the phone and forces the vent to the most downward position. The position of the phone on the vent is lower than I want. Also, I have found that even though I am aligning the on the phone to the mount the magnet provided is not that strong and my phone will fall from the mount when traveling over bumps or pot holes.

Works well but..

I only have one issue with this product. First I put the magnet directly onto the phone, along with one of the clear films it comes with for protection as directed by the product to use. The magnet itself performs great, easy to put onto the vent and stays in place. It holds the phone great in place as well, my phone has not fallen off while driving. BUT, the magnet is so strong that when it's time to leave and take the phone out. The metal plate and the clear protective films comes off the phone and is still on the magnet due to how strong it is. This has happened several times with the rectangle shaped magnet. And I had to switch over to the circular one it comes with because now the rectangle adhesive has worn down due to it being off and on several times due to the strength of the magnet. For now the circular plate with the circular clear protective film has only come off once. But at this rate it is just going to keep on happening. I also made sure to clean the surface of my phone to make sure it securely sticks onto my phone. Where can I get more of the clear film that comes with this product?

Stronger Than Logitech, But Looser Fit Vent Clip

I bought this based on the reviews of similar products and to get a cheaper version of the Logitech Trip One-Touch Smartphone Car Mount - Retail Packaging - Polished Chrome .

As a few reviews mentioned, the magnet is stronger than the Logitech brand--that is very true. However, the prongs/vent clips on the Spigen is looser-fitting than the Logitech.

I have a case, in which the metal plate is adhered to the outside of the case. My wife has a case that is (3 mm thick), in which her metal plate is adhered to the inside of the case (in between her phone and inside of the case).

So when I detach my phone from the Spigen's mount, most of the time the mount slides off the vent and remains attached to my phone. But with the my wife's phone, she doesn't have this issue. Instead, on the Logitech mount, the magnetism isn't as strong because of the metal plate is inside her (thick) case, so the Spigen mount reacts the equivalent to my experience of the Logitech, and holds her phone securely in place.

In my opinion the issue lies with the clip. Logitech has a minus (-)/C-clamp style of a clip. It's outer material is a like a non-slip grip material, and the clip is tighter, so it holds a stronger grip on the air vent deflector. Spigen's mount is a plus (+) style clip, and the material is like a smooth material that doesn't grip as well, and it doesn't seem to have a strong enough (any at all) metal/plastic grip, which are the reasons for the looser fitting clip.

My workaround is to offsite the placement of my phone to the magnet, and I peel my phone off versus pull my phone off (from the mount). My Subaru has a thicker air vent deflector than my Chevrolet. Because of the looser fitting Spigen clip, clipping on the Subaru is more ideal, and less chances of the mount staying with my phone when attempting to remove it from the mount.

In conclusion, I would recommend this Spigen mount, if you plan on adhering the metal plate on the inside (either inside the case/back of your phone, while in a case. If you plan on mounting on the outside, you might want/need the Logitech mount. It also depends on the thickness your vent deflectors (thicker deflectors--Spigen).

Perfect mount for my car.

Works perfectly as designed. Simply push the mount on any vent and mount and dismount your phone with ease. This product has the potential to be used in a wide variety of situations. You can attach the mount to any surface that is thin enough and you can stick the phone magnet to anything you want to mount.

One downside is you're going to want to turn off whatever vent your using to prevent overheating or making your phone too cold. You're most likely going to use one of the drivers vents so that's one less vent blowing AC/heat on a hot/cold day.

It also has the potential to mess up your vent if your phone is heavy enough and pulls on the vent. The ideal vent in my car is a little busted already and when I attach the phone to it the vents get all screwed up.

Very disappointed, I have had many Spigen products from you through Amazon, all very good, but I must tell you the Car Phone Holder Spigen®CD Slot Magnetic Car Mount for Large Phones-iPhone 7 Plus, has broken, I tightened the screw at the back as it was lose and the item fell apart, I am very disappointed as it was fantastic till it got lose, I would have expected it to last longer than 4 months!!!
So I have now had to purchase this very basic magnetic air vent holder as I still need a holder and Spigen have ignored my emails regarding this issue, this one looks very poor and not value for money

It’s a neat little product that does the job. The only reason I gave it 2 starts is to make people aware that if you have a wireless charger, the metal place you install inside the cover will prevent the phone from wireless charging. Hate to criticise one product over another products shortfall but the facts remains. It also leaves circle marks on the back of my Spigen cover which is annoying as I’ve had the case for few months looking nice and neat. The magnet is very strong so it works well. The gadget fits in well on the vent. One really good thing is that it also my phone from overheating as it sits on the vent!

This works perfect for me. I bought this and the slim case that is designed for it at the same time.

I currently have a spigen slim armour case and one of the magnetic plates sits in between the metal and rubber two piece case and it holds it in place perfectly. The magnetic is strong and it's never slipped or fell off once. I have an iPhone 6S

Now things you need to consider; the holder may not fit all your vents. I liken it too those air fresheners that sit in your vents too with the prongs holding them in place. They will fit some but if your vents are odd shaped or bulky you may struggle. The Ford Mondeo round vent for example I'd imagine this will not fit, similarly vents that are close to the top of a dashboard or other components in the car that may get in the way not allowing this to sit flush once the phone is attached... I will add photos later to show what I mean.

Again this fits my car fine and holds perfectly well and I couldn't be happier with it.

Don't get this if you have a clear case (you'll see the black magnet) or a leather flip style case as the magnet has to physically stick to something. Spigen aren't stupid and advertise this hence the reason they make a case designed just for it and also make 2 part cases that aren't transparent that also work perfectly with it like the tough armour and slim armour.

*After having this on my vent for 3 months the phone suddenly came off. I managed to catch it, however it was the rubber vent grip that had come off exposing the metal inside. Now it’s completely useless and my review is amended to 1 star.

Honestly I want to love this. I really do.

It's great and holds the phone perfectly. The Magnet is also really strong.

I give 2 stars though because the magnet to put in the case is quite large and if you ever use wireless charging then you can't use this product. At all.

If you don't however and want a decent phone holder then buy this.
