Disappointed. Different from previous Thin Fit versions

I always use Spigen for cases and have loved the Thin Fit line for my past few phones, the last one being the pixel 4. I don't know why but they changed the design with this one. This is supposed to be their most minimal case design, but they switched from the hard plastic last year that was SUPER thin and nice for people that like the thinnest possible case. Now it's a thicker and more bendable plastic. The buttons are covered now, which I hate. Why did they change that from the previous version? They offer other cases that are thicker and cover the buttons for people that want that. Cases are cheap now and there are only a few check boxes needed to be filled. This one fails to check the boxes it used to check so I'm going to another brand for the first time in like 4 years.

My wife and I both purchased new Pixel 5's. I bought this case and a Spigen Liquid Armor case as well to try them both out. This one is MUCH grippier than the liquid armor case. The liquid armor one I would say looks better due to having texture on the case and a cooler design, but I'm all about grip. Purchased a second one of these and both my wife and I are rocking these on our phones. Highly recommend this one.

Great redesign

I've never liked the thin fit cases for past phones and never bought any of them until now. The redesign is what caught my eye and caused me to buy it. It is thin enough for my liking and it does have a grippy feel to it. I like the combination of the TPU for the top half and the hard plastic back. The lip around the phone is raised enough to prevent the screen from touching a surface when faced down. The back is flat, having indentations only for the camera and fingerprint, which causes it to look sleek. It has a snug fit as well.

I am glad I bought it. It has replaced a case that I have been using from a different manufacturer for my past phones. If Spigen continues to make thin fits for future Pixels like this one, I will definitely buy them when I get another Pixel phone. I will even recommend them to others!

Great case, grippy, not too bulky, and looks clean. For all those complaining that it's different from past thin fit cases...did you not look at the pictures before you ordered? Or did you just assume it would be the same as an older product? Either way, that's not being a smart consumer and that's on you.

It's called a thin fit, but it's pretty thick. I thought it was going to be plastic like the other thin cases I got from Spigen. The Pixel 5 is a really thin device, this case makes it feel thick. At least the fingerprint reader is hard to miss because the case is so thick.

It seems like most of the bad reviews are complaining this case isn't as thin as previous ones. I don't have to compare to, but I like this case a lot. It's not the thinnest case I could possibly imagine, but it stays out of the way.

It's simple with no goofy patterns or anything that makes the phone look like a toy. It's just a simple black case that fits well in all the right spots. I actually really like the fingerprint reader cutout because it makes it extremely quick and easy to find and use the fingerprint reader.

It does hinder the ability to swipe down the fingerprint reader for notifications, but I don't use that anyway.

All I want in a phone case is to protect it from general wear and hopefully save it from a minor fall. I don't like cases that look goofy or are too bulky, so I think this is a great compromise. It adds some protection, but stays out of the way and looks really nice.

Swing and a miss on the new design, Spigen.

I chose this Spigen "Thin Fit" case for my Pixel 5 as their previous Thin Fit case for the Pixel 2 was quite thin, but nicely protected.

The new design makes use of both thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polycarbonate (PC) and feels somehow both bulky and difficult to grip. The nearly 2mm thick polycarbonate backing slips easily out of the hand, and the TPU only makes up a small trim bumper that covers around a 4 mm area around the entire front bezel. Holding the phone in a natural way means that only the very tips of your fingers end up touching the TPU - which is really not enough for grip.

That thick polycarbonate is felt even more when you want to use the fingerprint reader on the phone, where it literally feels like you're reaching into a hole to scan your finger. Terrible for ergonomics.

Additionally, the power and volume buttons are covered by the case, adding even more to the bulk, and deviating even further from the older thin fit case design made for the Pixel 2.

I wanted to like this case since I've liked Spigen's previous design, but I cannot endorse it in the least for any reason other than maybe cost. I believe that if Spigen had stuck with the 100% polycarbonate design then the case could have been made much thinner; instead the combination of materials adds bulk much like it does on consumer electric tools.

Those looking for a very thin case may wish instead to look into Peel cases. I ended up purchasing one from their website to replace this case and I have been very happy with it.

I'm fighting my phone case

It's a cheap phone case, and for a job as essential as protecting your expensive phone it does do at least that with a bit of nice minimal design thrown in. All the cut outs line up. Where I take some issue is the actual usability.

I wanted something closer to a soft grippy silicone so I don't drop by phone while running. This is a hard polycarbonate, so a bit more slick.

The fingerprint reader is also deep and hard to access. I don't want to fight my phone case every time I try unlock my phone.

Last but not least, the bevels at the edge of the screen help protect it, but it also interferes with the edge-swipe gesture the Pixel 5 uses as a back button. This gets annoying fast.

I like Spiegen, but this case has some significant usability flaws. At least it'll protect my phone until I find a case I love.

Not the same Thin Fit

I just upgraded from a Pixel 2 to a Pixel 5, and was using the trusty Spigen Thin Fit case with my Pixel 2 and so got what I thought was the same case for the Pixel 5.

However, like many others have noticed, it isn't the same Thin Fit at all. Firstly, it is chunkier in every dimension. That, unfortunately, becomes noticeable when the phone is in my pocket. It also means the fingerprint reader is more recessed than I'd have liked.

Secondly, it's not made of the same material. It's a much softer material unlike the hard material of the Pixel 2 Thin Fit.

Lastly, it wraps around the whole phone, including the top and bottom, with a tight grip.

Ultimately, I'm disappointed and the case isn't what I wanted. Spigen should've given the case a different name (e.g. Thin Fit II) to not give the impression it was the same design as the original Thin Fit.

It seems decent quality, but I wouldn't say it's thin. The soft rubberised sides go over the screen and are quite a bit above it, which makes it uncomfortable to swipe from the sides and bottom (big issue for this phone in my opinion).

Overall it's quite grippy, but definitely not thin fit.

For me made sense to stick with Spigen buy this case for my Pixel 5G. Lovely right fit, doesn't make phone hideously bulky. Nice. Comfortably feel and grip. I like most the case is thicker than the phone so heaven forbid you drop your phone face down flat. The screen is not the first place of impact. You have a reasuring 1-2mm gap between phone glass and the floor 👍🏾👍🏾

Feels cheap. The plastic is very smooth and doesn't have a premium feel at all. Definitely over priced. I'd return it if I could (just don't have packaging so not sure if I can!). The bottom part comes away everytime you remove from your pocket. It's really poorly designed. Feels like it's going to break.
