I was looking for a leather case that could hold a few credit cards, and this folio from Spigen was just what I was looking for. Although its made of synthetic leather, it feels like the real thing with a soft touch that you would associate with more expensive products. The case features 3 small pockets for credit cards and a larger pocket for folded cash. I've managed to put 2 credit cards into each pocket (totaling 6 cards), plus 8 cash notes (folded) into the case without too much difficulty. However, I wouldn't recommend adding much more since it would become rather bulky. The case is held together by a magnetic leather strap which snaps into place easily. Opening and closing the case is easy and works well.
The case works quite well for everyday usage. The buttons for sleep and volume are easily pushed and do not require much force at all. There are cut-outs for the speakers, the mute switch, and the charging port. Connecting a charging cable is easy. The front of the folio has a cut out for the ear speaker so you can hear calls, but it still requires that the folio is opened initially to access the screen to answer a call. One thing to note is the iPhone 8 Plus will not auto-lock when the folio case is closed - so you’ll have to remember to ensure your timed-auto lock is enabled and works. (This of course is not a fault by Spigen, but rather something that Apple did not add as a feature to the phone.) When open, the case can double as a stand for the iPhone by folding its rear cover. Camera operation however requires that the case be completely open so that you can see the screen while also keeping the camera unobstructed. Lastly, scanning a keycard that is placed inside the folio works flawlessly. I place my own keycard inside, and I just hold up the closed case to the scanner and it registers everytime.
The iPhone itself rests inside a protective plastic inner case that looks and feels similar to Spigen's own slim cases. When compared to Spigen's Hybrid series (a slim case), the inner plastic case is just slightly thinner, and has less of a lip all the way around the screen. Still, if the phone was dropped with the case closed, the leather cover would probably protect the phone's screen better anyway. The sides of the leather case combined with the inner plastic case would also combine for good protection in case of a drop. I've dropped my iPhone in this case several times on hard concrete without any issues.
The Wallet S Case from Spigen is an excellent folio style case with enough room for several credit cards and cash. It's soft, synthetic leather feels absolutely top notch, and it makes handling the iPhone a pleasure. I have other leather cases that cost twice as much as this, and don't feel as nice, and aren't as protective. This case is not "slim" by any means, but as a folio case I would consider it one of the better streamlined options - especially for its price point.
Top international reviews
Tactile and charges on my wireless charging dock through the case! Great
Room for cards and paper money- love this
Great value too
Looks and feels really good, feels protective, there’s decent protection and grip for the cards
What I dislike:
Does not lock the phone when I close the cover,
the belt feels flimsy, and the front cover wiggles too much.
Die Passform ist auch sehr genau, das Handy passt super rein.
Card pockets are roomy and it looks nice on the outside~
