Compsognathus?

Cute book but 5 yr old grandson who loves dinos nor I haven’t ever heard of a Compsognathus. I had to call it a Comp since Triceratops was hard enough to pronounce when trying to keep a young child engaged in a story. I want to ask the author, with all the dinos, what made him pick these for a book written for preschool age. I realize many author like to use big words to portray their intelligence but please dumb down for little kids who like simple words they understand. This is the only reason I took a star away.
After writing this I looked up the dino. The Cromp in the picture looked nothing like the picture in the book. The picture looked more like a baby T-Rex which would have been much easier to pronounce. Should have taken another star away for not knowing his dinos or having his artist draw the wrong picture

His 10 sibling Triceratops dinosaurs were there to greet him.
The mother (Triceratops dinosaur) was cleaning him up.
Pterosaurs were flying by.

Low & behold he beat Charger (older brother, Triceratops dinosaur) out.
Spike & Charger met Claw (squirrel) & Dot (sister, squirrel).

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary) dinosaur storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s dinosaur movie, a classroom presentation, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

This is part of a series of beginning chapter books for new readers. They are especially appropriate for readers in the six to ten age range.

Spike is eager to leave home but his parents and siblings warn him not to venture out. When Spike appears to prove he is the strongest, the two siblings set off on an adventure. Two squirrels join them. But the four are not prepared for what danger will soon confront them.

Each short chapter is preceded by a colorful illustration. Young readers can easily follow the large text and fast-moving plot. As a bonus, ten dinosaur jokes are included at the end to entice readers to share with their friends.

Looks like even baby dinosaurs don't like to mind. A couple of the new hatchlings wanted to explore the forest even though the adults warned of things that would eat them. They didn't believe it: they figured they were big enough to handle any situation in which they found themselves.

See how well exploring worked out for the dinosaur brothers. They made a couple of friends, but were they as tough as they thought?

This book has several very short chapters, each of which opens with a picture. However, these are the only pictures in the story portion of book.

My 5 year old hyperactive great-grandson spent the week with me this past week and every night I read him some of this book. This is one of the few things that I saw him be still for and focus on. He really enjoyed the story and always fell asleep while I was reading. So it took a week to finish it for him--just in time for him since he went back home right after we finished the story. If you have a child that loves dinosaurs and is hyperactive, this might just be a book that he/she will be able to pay attention to and enjoy the book at the same time. I do have to say that I had a problem pronouncing the name of the types of the dinosaurs that were mentioned, so I just gave them a nick name.
