I got this as a gift for my niece for Christmas, but she pulled it out for us to play while we were all together. If you've played 5 minute Dungeon, it works a lot the same way and the Marvel theme makes it enjoyable. If you don't know anything about Marvel, you can still enjoy the game, but may not understand all of the nuances. It's a game about teamwork and speed. You work together to beat the "bosses" instead of competing against each other, and I like that element. I think this one works a bit better with more people. We played a round with 4 and a round with 5 and we did better with the 5th. It would still be fun with 2 or 3, but would be a bit more difficult, I think. All in all, a fun group game that I'd recommend to all!

5-min Marvel is a card playing game that involves players working together to play cards that match the symbols of enemy cards. The game plays two to five players, who each will choose a Marvel hero to play as in the game. That hero will come with a character board with special power and a ten card power deck dedicated to that character. There is a central set of basic resource cards that will have an assortment and combination of the five symbols found in the game. The mission deck is built out of enemy cards that range from "goons" to "masterminds". The size of the deck is dictated by the chosen main villain board. They are Green Goblin, 15 cards, MODOK,18 cards, Red Skull, 20, Ultron, 23 cards, Loki, 26 cards, and Thanos, 30 cards.

After the deck is built, and modified by including an additional enemy cards and crisis cards equal to the amount of players playing, the game begins by starting a five minute timer. There is a Marvel themed timer found through the app store that is voiced by Jarvis. Players will then just play cards that match the symbol that appear on the enemy cards. Players will play a card and draw card instantaneously, but the decks they have are limited as no reshuffling is allowed. Players can use special abilities of there power deck to eliminate enemy cards with one card play or even pause the game. If players are ever stuck in the game, noone has a matching symbol in their hand, they can discard their hand and become injured. When a player becomes injured they lose their special ability on their character board, but they defeat the enemy and draw new cards.

Players continue playing until they defeat the main villain in the game or time runs out. This game plays well with two or more players as everyone is only needing to match symbols or activate abilities to eliminate enemy cards. The game requires quick thinking and communication to avoid players playing the same card when only one is needed. The tension builds up when the timer is down to a minute and there is still mission cards remaining. All this is without mentioning the crisis cards which can cause players to loose their hand or even become injured. The characters each have a nice theme to their powers like the Hulk being able to defeat any card, but he then has to revert to puny Banner. Players can do one five minute mission or all six if they would like. It is a fun game that can be a filler or just something lite for everyone to play.

This game is great fun for the whole family!

It's one of the few games we've found that takes everyone helping to actually win. My wife or I can't 'take over' the game to win, we have to also rely on the kids (ages 4 and 7) to chip in and help. At it's core, it's a color matching game with a timer and a marvel skin...which is in no way a bad thing! We adapt the rules slightly for our 4 year old, but our 7 year old has it down, no problem! We LOVE the (free) timer app as well! It plays 3 minutes of triumphant Marvel themed instrumentals and really amps up the gaming experience. It also gives you an easy way to pause the time for some of the cards. Our only gripe is that sometimes the game is too easy. Now that we've had some experience with the game we've, again, modified the rules to make the game a bit more challenging (like starting the game with heroes disabled, or playing with smaller hand sizes). I also really appreciate the hero choices included in the box. The male/female hero roster is pretty much a 50/50 split which really made the game appeal more to my wife and daughter... Squirrel Girl is a favorite at the table because she is "cute and powerful at the same time!"

If you're looking for a game that can appeal to the whole family and a wide range of ages and skills, I definitely recommend this game!

The game is called five minute Marvel as you have five minutes to win once you start playing. You will spend as much time setting up for it as you do playing, but that is still a low amount of time for a board game. You will need your own timer as one does not come with the game.

The mechanics is set up a deck of cards to be defeated (called door cards). Most of them will be play cards with a certain color on them out of your hands of all players, then draw up to a full hand and flip over the next. There are some special challenge cards (crisis cards) that involve discarding or waiting until the timer hits a certain number. Nothing complex here other than then need to communicate so you don't use more player cards then need to defeat a challenge card because if you run out of player cards before the challenge deck and the boss is defeated, you lose. You also lose if you run out of time. Each person plays as a Marvel hero that has a special power and a deck with some special cards and color cards that fits that hero. There are 6 bosses, each with a different number of cards to defeat before you can face them to increase the difficulty.

It works well as a quick family game that can be fit in at any time. Older kids will be able to play without their parents and younger kids (mine's 7) can play easily with them. It will get repetitive over time as there isn't a lot of variation and you will quickly have seen everything after playing the game several time.
