On one hand I was a bit weirded out with how realistic she is (think Chucky) but once I got used to her, it's turned to into fascination. She takes four C batteries that you should go ahead and get a replacement for when these run out. My two girls, age 3½ have played/fought over who gets to do what with her for a week. I'm thinking Santa needs to bring a second doll for Christmas. Sadly, they'll just fight over that one too because she'll be new but, at least I can send them to separate rooms.
Her arms and head move constantly. She giggles when tickled on her feet and tummy and talks! Did I mention she talks? I'll also mention that along with the ability to speak French (I love this because my kids take French in preschool) you have two volumes to choose from. After the initial wow wears off, I chose to turn her down for my sanity. Her eyes open, close and blink and her mouth moves with the words she speaks. She'll kiss her toy lamby, eat from her spoon, drink her bottle and suck on her pacifier.
She really is life like with the exception of her body. Her arm, legs and body are harder velvety plastic. I understand the need for this, so she can sit up, as it gives her some rigidity. Her face is made of a much thinner rubbery latex that has been painted. Her hair has been painted on as well and takes on a little bit of a shine. Not in one instance have either of my children cared about any of those things. She sits in her umbrella stroller just fine and is definitely the life of the party. My 75 year old mother is also just as taken with her.
Wow, what a toy. I thought my baby that ate and peed was awesome when I was a kid. This one says no thank you when she's full. Maybe she'll teach mine better manners!
SPINMASTER WHO IS THE MANUFACTURE PUTS THE PINK BOX WITH CLEAR WINDOW INSIDE ANOTHER BOX. THE DOLL IS ATTACHED TO THE WINDOWED BOX WITH TIES LOTS OF THEM AS WELL AS THE ACCESSORIES. THIS DOLL IS CLEARLY USED AND BROKEN. PLUS DIRTY SKIN. THIS IS THE SECOND DOLL NOW I WILL BE RECEIVING ANOTHER ONE ON MONDAY I HOPE IT WILL BE NEW STRAIGHT FROM SPINMASTER AND SOLD BY YOU. NEW MEANS NEW NOT DAMAGED AND USED. YOUR FULFILLMENT DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE ASHAMED SENDING A CUSTOMER AN ORDER THAT SHOULD BE TOSSED IN TRASH AND NEVER SENT TO A CHILD. I HOPE WHO EVER IS IN CHARGE OF THIS DEPARTMENT GIVES A REPRIMAND TO WHOM EVER IS AT FAULT FOR SUCH A HORRIBLE THING TO DO TO A CUSTOMER. I HOPE AMAZON IS NOT FEELING THIS IS OK TO DO TO THEIR FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS. THIS DOLL SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRASHED AND NEVER RESENT TO ANYONE NOT EVEN GOODWILL. IT WOULD HORRIFY A CHILD.
I like the doll too, but I think she could be much more interactive than she is. In reality, she basically just does more things after time and playing. She doesn't really react to how you play with her, she can't "see" or "hear", she can "feel" in only a very limited way. Mostly, she moves around and senses her few toys. She does move around in a fairly lifelike way, but this is marred for me by how loud her gears are. There is a moderately loud roar in the background all the time.
Technology has come a long way in most areas since furby type toys came out. However, this is much like those toys, or perhaps even more limited, as they did sort of interact with each other. I can think of so many ways this doll could still be doll-like and still do so much more, like actually get to know different voices or faces, or have a body that senses touch all over and not just in a few places.
I don't mean to knock this doll too much, though. She's pretty lovable, and I am thrilled my daughter likes her. It is fun to hear her start to say "Mama", and to hear her kiss her lamb or say "yumm" when eating from her spoon. If you are not expecting the next generation of robot doll, and you have a fairly young child or one who plays at a fairly young level, this would most likely be a hit.
After I submitted this review I noticed her eye isn't correct either. It's as if it's pushed further back than the other. Here's some pics. This was literally right out of the box. Soooooo dissatisfied
