It takes some twists & turns to clear the story from others similarly. The love story sweet but not mushy. The author separation of characters as a crew very well created they're not heroes they're humans.
The main character reckless but very strong. The female character a lady with all the great characeristics. I love Luis & Barret they're really the heart of the story without taken the protagonism.
The posession good & very tortuose. The end clearly a saving of friends. The return, awsome.
I think the author tried to do too much in one story. It was torn between a horror story and a romance. I liked the horror part of it much more than I did the romance. Austin and Casey went from hating each other to bumping uglies in almost no time. I didn't feel the love between them at all until almost the end of the book, so most of the story I'm wondering why they're even together. Not to mention the sex was bad, not only for the reader, but apparently Casey finds it almost impossible to orgasm. I know that may be an issue to be addressed in some form, but maybe not during a horror/romance. It dragged an already floundering romance even farther into the pits. The constantly changing POVs was another hurdle to get over. It was worse in the beginning and eventually evened out, but it was tiring rereading paragraphs trying to figure out who was narrating. The first 75% ranged from 2-2.5 stars....the last 25% is what kicked the rating up for me. A lot was going on horror-wise and it became a lot more interesting for me. The ending was brutal and bleak. I kinda wanted to throw my iPad at the wall. Now I don't know if she were to write another book in this world if I'd have to pick it up just to see if she can salvage that ending or if I'd avoid it due to my anger.
There was a good idea here (if you ignore the ending) and I think if she had a different editor who was a bit more honest we could have a really good book, by either taking out the romance completely or reworking it into a story that works all the way through.
