The author begins by explaining our new nature in Christ. Then he talks about the anointing of the Spirit, which is the result of placing ourselves under the authority of Christ. Next, he talks about the mind of Christ, and what it means to renew our minds. He talks about being filled by the Spirit, which is true of every believer. And he explains a simplified version of spiritual warfare because Christ has already won so all we have to do is keep our eyes on Him, not the enemy. He then talks about grace and life in the Spirit, which are one and the same to him. The gospel is a lifestyle of faith. Anything else is flesh-centered.
Eddie Snipes teaches a gospel of grace, not personal achievement, good works, or legalism. There’s nothing more (beyond believing) for us to do to be “good enough” for God. There’s nothing we need to do to earn God’s favor or blessings for our lives. Grace is the Good News.
This book made me re-think a couple points. I think it would benefit most readers. It’s well written and easy to understand. Plus, he’s very good at backing everything with Scripture as he explains things. The Spirit-Filled Life is definitely worth a read.
If the original, life transforming, world changing teachings of the exchanged life is what you are looking for, I would suggest looking for the writings of Hudson Taylor, Andrew Murray, Charles G. Trumbull, Ruth Paxon, Watchman Nee, Amy Carmichael, Corrie Tenboom, A.B. Simpson, A.W. Tozer, & Major Ian W. Thomas.
