I wanted more when it ended!
It's not just an abstract thesis. Ratzinger explores questions of the placement of the altar, the difference between sacred and merely religious art, the quality of the music used in the liturgy, and other ultimately practical questions. Maybe there are things that give you anxiety in your parish church and you are not sure why. This book will help you articulate your thoughts and perhaps lead others to a more authentic celebration.
5. The Human Voice:
Presiders for the Holy Mass - please stay for the approved universal liturgy and remove too much of your personality; and take on Jesus'.
Please: Very respectfully in the liturgical times and be SILENT.
Benedict's "The Spirit of the Liturgy" revised Guardini's 1918 "The Spirit of the Liturgy" is excellent.
Benedict writes -
"In the last century, Romano Guardini opened up our understanding of this symbolic world in a new way by his little book Sacred Signs. Recently, Bishop Kapellari of Klagenfurt gave us a new book, with many pictures, in which Guardini’s insights are developed, deepened, and applied to our present situation. There is no need, therefore, to discuss the matter here."
We need an English translation for Kapellari's book!
