About the Author
I read my first romance novel at 16 and immediately attempted to write one, too. Many attempts (and a couple of decades) later, I finally published my first novel. A mild-mannered newspaper reporter with more than 15 years experience as a general assignment reporter, features editor and graphic designer, I have also worked as a production assistant in TV and film. I lives in the Southeast with my rescue cat. Learn more about her books at www.angelacampbellonline.com.--This text refers to the paperback edition.

Standalone/series: stands alone but part of a companion series
Cursing?: not a lot but present
Descriptive Sex?: yes
Descriptive Sex Between H/h With OW/OM?: No
Contains Cheating?: No
Overall Chemistry: High
Overall Couple's Rootablity: High
HEA/HFN/etc Ending: Mostly HEA, but the kind where not everything is set in stone yet you have a good feeling about things going forward
1st/2nd/3rd Person: 3rd
Character(s)POV Spoken: dual
Any Triggers/Warnings: Minor, but the main character had a relationship in the past that turned into an unhealthy relationship when the guy turned possessive and emotionally abusive over time. Apparently the relationship ended after there was the inevitable physically abusive event. Nothing is described in detail but is used rather to show how the heroine never wants to go back to being the meek and mild person she became during the relationship. Also, there is some mild mirroring in events with a ghost that is present in the story and trying to tell her story so she can pass on.
Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
Would You Read More Books By This Author: Yes, I plan to try another book in this series when it goes on sale
Safety Gang approved? Yes, however, of note- the hero has in his past obviously had his share of females though it isn't shoved down our throats or overly described. It's more that he is scared he'll become his dad and thus has avoided serious relationships. It is said that he'd gotten tired in the last year of the shallowness of the whole dating scene (or at least the way he'd done it) and stopped even really "dating". There are moments when he is a reluctant hero because he doesn't want to let the heroine down but it is never taken too far so I did not find it frustrating.
I wasn't sure how high to rate this book because I really enjoyed it much more than I expected. I'm not sure if I'd read books more similar how it would compare but it really hit the spot for something different. Maybe I'm short changing it by only giving it 4 stars but I docked a star for having 2 aspects that usually I don't enjoy as much even though they didn't bother me here. For one, I don't usually like the hero who has only hooked up casually until the heroine but I thought that there was enough in the book to justify a change for the hero. Both his getting tired of only having shallow relationships and desiring something more before even meeting the heroine and the way things play out helped me to believe in him. Secondly, I'm never one to enjoy descriptions of love scenes with "feasting" on lips (makes me think of cannibals) and "pooling" heat used as descriptions (at least the word "moist" was not used). This is overly harsh but since I wasn't totally connected to the way the physical love scenes were described I decided the most accurate thing would be to dock a star. These things didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story however.
This book was on sale and that is why I took the chance on it. I'm quite a hard sell when it comes to books these days, even for a dollar. The high reviews and the unusual description convinced me to to spend my precious dollar. I'm glad I did because it was just the something a tiny bit different that I was looking for in a book. There is still a good bit of romance to drive the story forward but it doesn't rely on that to drive the plot. A large part of the plot has to do with the Hero's "haunted" house and the story that comes out of that. It kept the developing relationship from becoming too angsty. Those people who want a totally realistic book should look elsewhere, There are ghosts, psychics, and those types of elements throughout the story. If you can enjoy a story with that then you might give it a try.
I really enjoyed the heroine. She's a little geeky but not overly done to where she turns into a caricature. She's smart and brave and kick-butt with enough faults to make her human and lovable. She's got a bit of a snarky side too. The hero, as I've mentioned, has his moments of being a reluctant guy in the relationship and has his share of faults. They didn't get in the way of me liking him and rooting for him though. He's not as strong as the heroine for me but I liked him with the heroine so it worked. In general I think the author did a good job of giving me a good feel for the characters and making them feel real with plenty of plot and action. I never got bored reading the story. I definitely want to read more by this author. Not sure of the $7.00 price tag for a kindle book for the rest of the series but if they ever go on sale I'll buy them.
One last thing to note. I have not read any books prior in the series and it did not hamper my enjoyment of this one. Obviously I would have been more familiar with some of the characters mentioned in the book if I had read the prior books which I would have likely enjoyed. Still, it seems you can pick up a book in this series and read it as a stand alone or out of order if you so desire.
Loud noises, TV going on and off, doors slamming....
Then he met the woman pet sitting at the house he was watching.
Then he found out there were 3 ghosts in his house.
Story for each book keep you guessing they had it all ... romantic, funny, mystery, ghosts, Surprise events, fun dogs and cat.
I recommend reading them. I will be checking to read more from this author.
