first, i am not a fitness or herbal guru.
I'm just a 43yo out of shape ex-marine and I have been taking NSP since October of 2011. For the first couple of months i didn't notice anything.
"notice" is the key word here. During the holiday season the flu and pneumonia
went through my house and my work place with a vengeance. My wife and several coworkers got sick enough to go the hospital. After the holiday's and into the spring it hit me. I did not get sick! not even a sniffle. I have not felt ill, off, crappy, or even light headed since October. i have had a couple of headaches nothing serious, but i do remember indulging some spirits the night before :)
Basically i have not been sick or even felt bad for over 6 months, even after getting only 3hrs of sleep last night i feel pretty good actually.
I will update this review in another six months. :)

Not a sniffle!
I cannot get sick! Flu, colds, dust... goes through my house and my work. The only thing i got "sick" of, was telling people (family, co-workers) to takes these. No one will listen. Oh well.
If you like being sick and miserable Do not take these. Just leaves more for us :)

I bought this when I heard a nutritionist say that this gives you energy and you are more focused. It helps kids who are not focused in school too. My 10 year old was very distracted and was always behind in school and since he has been taking these pills, he is doing a lot better. I give this to all of my kids and husband. My husband has a lot of energy. He does landscape work on the side and this helps him stay on his toes. This is my second bottle. You need to put them in the refrigerator as soon as you open the container.

I'm a fan of Nutrex. I have been taking their Astaxanthin for years. I finally decided to give this a try. I am a double-lung transplant survivor and have been very blessed thus far, 7 years out. I can tell everything by my exercise tolerance. The drugs I have to take have caused me to be slightly anemic. Tried taking Feosol, straight up iron, did almost nothing. I've now been taking this just a month, and my energy level on the elliptical hasn't been this good in a while. Very noticeable. Also, got labs this week, all red blood counts up. I haven't been sleeping as well towards the morning, and I read another review that said to not take it <4 hours before bed for this very reason. I think the energy it gives you keeps lasting. Not complaining, I feel fantastic. Organ donation is the greatest gift you can give!

Try It, You'll Like It

I had been purchasing spirulina from my local organic grocer for almost $60 a pound. The taste left something to be desired. One of the problems with purchasing organics is the price. I try to purchase as much organics as I can, but sometimes I have to use common sense when allocating my limited funds.

One of the issues with purchasing organics is that nothing is completely organic, as the environment we live in ensures that the air and water cannot be hermetically sealed. As anyone who really pays attention to quality knows, companies like Monsanto foul the air, soil and water even in Hawaii. Even India is having issues now with Monsanto. If we get cross pollination of GMO corn into organic fields, what else does the wind deliver, let alone Fukushima tainted sea water.

With that said, I am incredibly pleased with this product and am happy it is grown in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, so to speak. The taste is superior, as is the color. If the choice is to take nothing, if you can't afford "organic", this will always be my choice. I have the one pound powder and add it to smoothies or juicing. It is affordable and keeps me in a positive frame of mind, because it keeps me healthy even though it is not quite organic.

I grow most of my greens or purchase what I can't grown from local farmers that I know personally. They do not have organic status but grow organically minded. What I eat is far superior to a lot of the garbage I buy in the stores that sell organic. One item is eggs that I used to buy from a large wholesale outlet. One of the issues I had was that the yolks were pale yellow, instead of bright orange. Unhappy chickens eating organic meal does not necessarily mean a superior egg. I now buy only locally grown eggs that are bright orange and of superior taste and quality, but not always 100% organic; it just depends. I could go on, but to give one more example: I will always take a home-made non-organic hamburger over the best burger from a fast food joint. So, choose wisely and try to live as healthy as possible.

Use it as a multivitamin

I have been buying this brand of spirulina for years and will continue to do so. My kids chew these up and said these have the best taste of the few other brands that we have tried. I use spirulina instead of a multivitamin for the kids and myself. They've taken these since about 9 months of age. I would crush and add to food, until they were able to safely chew and swallow them on their own. You do need to take about 15-20 tabs daily for ultimate dosing per several studies I have read. It is safe during pregnancy and nursing as I have asked my midwives, nutritionist, and read studies that it is actually beneficial as it is a food and therefore very easily absorbed and used by the body. 4x more iron than spinach and 28x more calcium then milk, tons of trace minerals. This and one more brand was hand selected by my natural store as its been proven to be the best. Its half cheaper to buy here then there.
