This book sets up a potentially really great story but I would love it if it were fleshed out more. If I had more of an in depth understanding of the century's worth of longing, anger and pain mentioned in this book maybe I would have understood the primary relationship between the main characters, Sariah and Nate. Instead, it just seemed rushed. So much happened so quickly. I couldn't really connect with them. I felt like I was being told instead of really seeing, if that makes sense. Also, the "shocking reveal" might have also been a bit more shocking and less predictable had we gotten to really know other characters more beforehand because there really wasn't anyone else it could be to provide shock value at the end there.
Anyway, that may be asking too much of a novella but I guess it did its job in opening up a world in which I'd be interested in reading other stories about. I just hope that those stories are longer or I hope I can at least feel more satisfied with my connection to the characters.
This book, Splash, was provided by the Author, Baine Kelly, free of charge through PaC Romance group for an honest review.
Readers can definitely read Splash without feeling obligated to read the next in series read, but will probably want to with the intrigue Baine was able to establish. I will be picking up Garrick's story next.
Now back to Splash. Nathaniel was pretty great. He's a vampire scientist who has been pursing medical and science degrees for decades in order to find a way to help his one true love "Sariah" control her urges to feed. But Sariah has been locked away in a special facility being forced because of this problem without any contact with Nathaniel for so long that she feels unwanted by the first man she loved.
When these two are forced into each other's presence to test Nathaniel's latest invention "Splash" their relationship tested. Not only by each other, but also by the other vampires who clearly have something against Sariah and Nate. I'm sure as we dig deeper into the Sable world in the next book, we will come to understand more of the dynamics and the motivations of those against the group of vampires that Saraih and Nate belong.

Firstly I would like to thank Baine Kelly, author of Splash, for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.
I really enjoyed this story and loved the unique concept where we get to see a female vampire as a protagonist. I also liked the fact that apart from changing your beloved into a bloodsucking vamp there are other ways by which you can be with them for your lifetime, like the cure of controlling the blood-lust like we get to see in this story. The mystery about the bad guys chasing our protagonist was a little confusing for me because we didn't get a clear view of their intentions or why they want to do so. This is a novella so it's has to be short but still I felt it to be a little rushed up. It would have been great if the author would have supplied more background to the story and let us know the history of each character. I liked the smooth and skilled writing style of the author and she succeeded in connecting me to our protagonist.
The action is good and I liked the passionate romance and the sacrifice that touched my heart. A good read that I would recommend to others as well and if you want to experience something new in the Vamp genre (which is really difficult nowadays) then I would suggest you to go with this. I'm looking forward to book 2 and hope that the unanswered questions will be solved here.
