The Vanilla Splenda tastes like... well, Vanilla; the good vanilla, not the artificial stuff. It's delicate and subtle. You can easily taste both the vanilla and your favorite ground coffee separately and yet appreciate how wonderfully they come together. (Can you tell that I am sipping a hot cup of vanilla flavored coffee as I am writing?)
The Hazelnut Splenda is a little too roasted for my taste, and in my opinion it kind of kills the otherwise nutty hazelnut flavor. But don't let that stop you from at least trying it. You might like it a lot more that we did.
THERE IS NO AFTERTASTE. I hate Nutra Sweet because of that.
Splenda No Calorie Sweetener comes in three flavors Vanilla, Hazelnut and Mocha. I give Vanilla 5 stars, Hazelnut 4 Stars and I have not tasted the Mocha yet. But if you are wondering if you should try this product, the answer is YES, go for it, you will love it. You will even impress a couple of friends too. Que te aproveche.
Okay, that being said, here's more:
For years I kept seeing flavored creams everywhere. Why don't they make flavored sugars, I wondered. Interesting that Splenda came out with flavored sugars, as it was about one year ago that I emailed the company with the idea. Perhaps it is just a coincidence. Anyway, it doesn't matter...it is really (really) good.
I've tried them all. Vanilla being my favorite. Mocha a very, very close second, and hazelnut is a distant (but worth trying) third.
All of the flavors are very (well...) flavorful. So much so, that in a "travel mug" size coffee cup, I use one flavored packet of Splenda and one regular Splenda and it's plenty flavorful.
The vanilla is very vanilla-y (which I happen to prefer to chocolate).
The mocha is very chocolately and delicious, especially for me, not being a chocolate fan.
The hazelnut I could take or leave and I would take it if the others weren't around. It is not at all or in the least bit objectionable, however.
My only objection to this Splenda is the packets themselves (those tall, skinny packets) are somewhat cumbersome to open the way they were intended to be opened, I think.
You are supposed to fold over the top just slightly and then use the already slit part at the top to tear it apart.
The problem lies in that when you tear it this way, it tears all the way down the packet and can spill out. ...and if you stop tearing it at mid-package, you end up with a small "pocket" of torn package that you have to hold with one hand while dumping the contents out with the other.Read more ›
I searched all over the grocery stores in my area for this product and haven't been able to find it, so I turned to amazon and was super excited to find that I could buy it in bulk. I only wish they would sell this product in a variety pack as I'd like to try the hazelnut and the Mocha but I'm not really willing to purchase those in packs of 6 as I'm not sure I'll like them enough to use it all up.
