I am super disappointed with the plant that arrived in the mail. This is the second of the SAME plant I have ordered from Amazon and Hirt’s.
First plant from same seller: beautiful Split Leaf with probably 25-30 leaves, it is huge and resembles more of a bush.
Second plant from same seller: has 5 leaves on it, one is turning yellow, and it is in a substantially smaller pot than the first plant. It seems as though someone just took a cutting of what I should’ve got and sent it to me.
I’ve added a photo so you can see the difference between the first plant I ordered and the second one I received. It is a major difference and only one month apart.
This giant tropical beauty showed up at my office today completely unharmed by the 3 day trip from LA to Philly. It came boxed carefully, nestled in packing peanuts, wrapped in brown paper, rooted in a sturdy plastic pot that's 8" in diameter at the top and 6" at the bottom. The soil was soft and slightly damp and the whole pot was wrapped in plastic to keep from spilling.
The plant is way bigger than I expected, even from looking at other photos, at 2 feel high. Mine definitely needs to be repotted in a larger pot so I'm glad I didn't buy the replacement planter before it arrived. After about 12 hours out of the box the leaves have started to spread nicely. I got one with lots of large split leaves and plenty of small promising new growth. There were a few squashed, curled up interior leaves and a few small yellow ones (but really only about 3 out of 50+ leaves) so I'll be doing some pruning when I repot.
Overall, I am very, very satisfied. For the same price as a bouquet of flowers that would only last a week, I have a very happy new addition to my office.
It's been about three weeks since I posted the pictures, and she's grown many new and fully split leaves. The plant is still in perfect health and I expect massive growth over the summer !
First pic is her after three weeks, second pic is day of arrival
It's literally growing a new leaf every two days.
After arrival it only took two days for the leaves to relax into a more natural position than the shipping position. She appears happy and healthy.
It looks like she still has plenty of room in the bucket she arrived in; I'll probably take her lead as to when I bump up the pot size.
Would definitely purchase from this seller/shipper again.
