I don't know how many bags I've bought of these now, well over 10 of the 10lb bags. For some reason the 10lb bag is the best price per pound. We're vegan so eat a lot of beans and legumes, and pink lentils are a staple for us. I make a lot of soup and dal, and these lentils are great quality, great flavor, and a good price. Very easy to buy in bulk on Amazon and always have on hand. I always pick through my beans and legumes before cooking (been doing that long before I ever bought these), and these are always very "clean" with not a lot of debris. Look, there *will* be an occasional twig, or rock in bulk food. That's just a fact of life. You have to live with and manage that if you buy food like this, but it's not a big deal! Over the years I've gotten a bag here or there -- of rice, or spices, or beans -- that was infested with insects. Yeah, it blows and is inconvenient, but I've always gotten a free replacement. That has never happened with this brand, and we buy a lot of their stuff (dried fruit, nuts, seeds, beans). Anyway, I just bought another 10lb bag and will continue to do so as long as the quality and price stay the same more or less. Highly recommend this brand.

I don't get anything for writing this review by the way. My pic is a curried lentil soup with homemade green chile and cumin flatbread -- yum!

Delicious in Turkish Red Lentils Soup!

Absolutely delicious! I bought these to compare the difference between conventionally grown red lentils and organically grown red lentils - both grown in Turkey. The difference in flavor and color is amazing! The conventional red lentils have an artificial bright reddish/orange color and flavor is ok but seems to be enhanced by additional preservatives. By comparison, this organic brand has a clean, flavorful taste that melts in your mouth and color is definitely not chemically enhanced. Turkish red lentil soup (when made correctly) is addictive but very healthy for you! I could eat this everyday. Plus a small amount of dried lentils goes a long way when cooked. The package has a generous amount! Thank you Foods To Live! Will order again.

I wrote the review for green lentils from the same company, it is true for red lentils as well.
I love lentils (green or red) and this brand is one of my favorite. I have reordered multiple times - the quality of the product has been always consistent, lentils are clean and taste good. Availability of different bulk sizes is a plus. Packaging is solid, no ripping even when I order big bags and they get thrown over the gate during delivery.
Update Feb 2021: reordered 10 lbs bag of red lentils, something is wrong with the lentils this time and i cannot return. There were thick clouds of dust in the air (a lot!!) when I try to pour the lentils into my plastic storage containers - never happened before.

I prefer the red lentil bean over green or black lentil bean. It has a fruity island taste, not chalky taste, bean taste I mean. I make a big pot of red lentil beans with vegetables like celery, onions and crushed tomatoes, bay leaves, Italian seasoning and lemon zest at the end of cooking, very tasty. So as you can see it's more like a soup that I make, a lentil soup. Its the bean that makes the difference by this company.

As a raw vegan trying to find easily sproutable beans etc can be a challenge. Food to live did not disappoint. Sprouted quickly in my mason jars, very fresh looking and tasting. Definitely would buy again!

I love these lentils. There is description of how the lentils cook up and it was excellent, no surprises just as described. I added after they were finished cooking, a pinch of salt and cayenne pepper. With a few crackers and salad I had a light meal in no time. I saw questions on several types of beans in several different brands and decided I well never buy beans that are not organic. Whether beans are sprayed with Roundup is important to me. I will stick with this brand.

I'm disappointed to get another product where the ad ingredients don't fully match the real product.
I checked the images and description carefully, and it did not mention wheat anywhere. The actual bag that came said processed in a facility that also processes tree nuts and wheat.
For a family with food allergies, that means we cannot eat this, as it may trigger a reaction.
