Editorial Reviews

The long running and the longer running. The finite and the perpetual. Two of the last studio tracks from a band now in their final days, and two songs from a band who will potentially outlive us all. ISIS. The Melvins. If you enjoy music of the heavier variety and haven't heard either of these aural entities you are also probably unaware of other modern developments such as disposable contacts, the internet, and Snuggies.

I listen to ISIS obsessively so my review may not be the most objective to someone trying to decide whether or not to drop coin for a split LP with two ISIS tracks on it.
All I can say is it will be the best twenty or thirty bucks you'll spend for a good while. This band right now is on a whole other level from ANYONE else in my opinion and it's sad to see them close the book now when their music just keeps getting more and more amazing. Wavering Radiant was unreal and these two tracks are even better and the bar goes higher and higher. Aaron Turner has been working some of the cleaner vocals lately and I think he's great but I also like that he hasn't sold out and strayed from the crushing heaviness that makes ISIS unique. These guys are just so creative it blows my mind. This review is more of a "thank you" to a band that makes music that just takes me somewhere else every time I put on headphones. Lots of people say "oh ISIS sounds like this band or that band" but I have heard lots of music and ISIS sounds only like ISIS. I don't know who gives input on their tracking and producing but every track they release lately has more and more layers and details. There are lots of good bands out there but in the heavy progressive genre you could buy anything from ISIS from Oceanic all the way to this split LP and it will be better than ninety four percent of ALL music put out in the last ten years.
