- splits HDMI 2.1 signal with downscaling (instead of lowest common denominator)
- is not crazy expensive
- available in the US
And it actually works. Got it, plugged into the cables and it just started to work. My TV gets the 4K120Hz VRR and my Hue Play HDMI Sync Box gets the 1080P signal to do the lights.
Honestly didn’t expect it to work as well as it does given that nothing is ever easy with HDMI.
(1) All aluminum, heat dissipating housing.
(2) Tight fit HDMI inputs and outputs.
(3) All front mounted selector switches.
(4) Locking collar for the power adapter input helps avoid accidental disconnection.
(5) USB input for firmware updates.
(6) Comes with two Velcro cable ties to help manage cables.
Best Features:
(1) One of my favorite features of this splitter is the scaler switch that scales the output of HDMI 2 OUT to match the device you’re connecting to. I have a 21 inch TV on my desk that I like to watch while working and with other splitters I had to manually go into the settings on my streaming device and reduce the output to 1080 for all devices just to be able to get output to my desk. Then when I wanted to watch a 4K movie on my 75in 4K tv I would need to go into the Streaming device and change the settings back. Now, a flick of the switch and I can go back and forth to either scenario.
(2) Locking collar for the AC adapter. Too many of my previous splitters had power ports that didn’t fit tight or became loose over time. The locking collar on this splitter is a nice touch which allows me to move the box around to plug and unplug HDMI cable without fear of powering down (a situation with cheaper splitters that would cause rebooting other device in order to get the output to all devices reconnected).
(3) Front side LED’s. It’s nice to have front side LED’s to let you know the status of all ports without have to look at the back of the box.
(4) Selector for all audio passthrough from 2.1 up to 7.1 including a “copy” mode that lets the receiving device learn the setting from HDMI OUT 1.
All in all this device performs well and eliminates a lot of issues that I’ve had with cheaper devices. For my needs, this device is well worth the money.

I say almost perfect because my Denon receiver somehow doesn’t understand the HDMI signal being sent from this splitter (OUT2 port in 1080P mode). The receiver seems to detect an HDMI connection but can’t decode its contents. Fortunately, I was able to work around the issue by adding another downscaling HDMI switch between this splitter and my receiver. It’s a messy solution but it works.
On the video side, things again are almost perfect. 4K@120Hz and HDR work as they should, but VRR is unsupported when using any of the splitter’s EDID presets. VRR does work in the COPY EDID mode, but that’s useless for me because it results in 2.0 sound instead of 7.1. Another oddity is that my Xbox Series X, when connected through this splitter, limits Dolby Vision gaming to 60Hz (instead of 120Hz, when directly connected to the TV).
Further investigation reveals that the splitter is replacing my TV's original Dolby Vision EDID settings with a different set of parameters. In my case, the substitute data represents a functionality downgrade and a suboptimal HDR configuration, so I consider this behavior to be undesirable (especially for COPY mode, in which I'd expect no major EDID changes).
Physically, the splitter is very nicely built, with an all-metal casing, locking power input, and UL Listed AC adapter. The micro-USB port on the front is a welcome sight, as it leaves open the possibility of firmware updates for future improvements.
Overall, this splitter is very capable, but its shortcomings include limited VRR support, unexpected Dolby Vision EDID modifications, and an apparent semi-incompatibility with my AV receiver. Those are reasonably acceptable compromises for me, overshadowed by finally being able to enjoy my PS5/XSX at close to their full potential. Four stars.

Setup isn't as seamless as it was coming from my soundbar. Sync fails to auto start when switching apps, but I can live with that.
