Definitely an epic space opera that’s going to take you on a wild ride.
If you don’t like sci-fi easter eggs, and being caught up in a book that makes you forget about everything going on in the world around you..then don’t read this. The least you can do is read a sample, but i tell you it gets even better.
I’m on book 3 and am VERY happy I’ve read them. The character(s) and world(s) building is fantastic, and i love Dakota. She stays true to her values and almost always seems to have luck on her side. Buckle up, you’ll be going on one heck of a journey.
This is book two of the series and it picks up roughly where the first book ended. It can be read as a standalone, but might be better read in order.
This is a comedic SF action adventure and I mean exactly that. This story takes them all, mixes them up and spits them back out in a happy jumble. Accent on the happy.
This book was just as entertaining and fun to read as the first book. I love the mix of genre and the humor was spot on, sometimes hitting you in the face and others surprising you around the corner. It was also non-stop action that kept things moving at a brisk pace. Still loads of fun and I look forward to the next book.
I received an ARC through StoryOrigin for review purposes.
I'm incredibly biased for sci fi featuring space kitties. And the space kitties in this book are bloodthirsty warriors with high morals. The book is aptly titled: things get worse. I almost expected the book to end with the whole cast being vaporized, things got so bad, but we need the next book in the series, so they predictably survive. Now for the negative: Many books in a series are true islands, and may give a slight nod to events in the previous books. In this book [which is book 2 of a series], there are references to the earlier book almost every chapter. Granted, the reader is not left in the dark, but it made me feel like an outsider hearing friends repeatedly telling an inside joke. I really know the book would have done just fine without the repeated references.
Unless you've published something that's sold over a million copies I'm not sure you should really be be bashing anybody else's content or style. I have over 700 books in the science fiction genre in my library. And I'm just amazed that people can write and get published. So maybe I am a little squeamish about really bashing someone else's book since they accomplished something that I can't.
I read for entertainment value and story line. The first thing I did was buy a copy of Apocalypse, Wow and enjoyed that immensely. I give both of these books five stars!
Maybe because I'm a cat lover and just having a grown-up Hobbes as part of a species was just really exciting and extremely entertaining. And I'll admit I have a crush on Dakota. I had a tough time putting either of these books down and they were just great reads.
I guess my only complaint was how come Jack had to be naked and Dakota wasn't? (Especially after the way she was depicted on the covers!) LOL I'm really looking forward to Book 3 in March!!!
I loved the author’s humor and ability to throw bits of geeky history into his books as well. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start. (It was A, B start, but close enough) I love the little Easter eggs from the author’s other books too. He talks about Little computer people and Euryale the Gorgon. Probably more, but I haven’t read them all yet. All in all, a highly entertaining read. I received an Arc in exchange for my honest review.
