When Spongebob first appeared on television I was amazed at the imagination of the creator and not in a good way. Then my little (at the time) grandson wanted to watch it and I watched along with him. I am now 67 years old and I absolutely love Spongebob. I have all the episodes and am totally hooked. It's amazing what people can learn from some silly undersea creatures.

Life lessons are freely offered in almost every episode: How to behave in public, how to be kind to others, how to be helpful, how to know when to stop a particular behavior, what things are most important in life, etc.

Squidward is my favorite character, followed by greedy Mr. Krabs. Patrick Star has to be the most stupid character on television, but even he comes up with totally wise and relevant comments every so often. Spongebob is just great fun for everyone. Watch and learn. Watch and learn. Sometimes a bit of silliness is needed in life and Spongebob comes through with this also.

Believe it or not, the 8th season of SpongeBob really was the final SpongeBob season filmed in Fullscreen, with the exception of It's A SpongeBob Christmas, which was the 2nd episode in production order filmed in HD-Widescreen, AND the first animated appearance of Patchy and Potty, as the original Christmas special was their first appearance period; this season originally ran brand-new from March 2011 to December 2012. This season contains a lot of landmark fan faves, such as Squidward faking being injured at work, Mr. Krabs and Plankton trying to steal a new popular recipe (The Flabby Patty, with season 4's Best Frenemies it was Kelp Shakes), Tom Wilson's first time on SpongeBob since Stinky in season 5's Friend Or Foe (This time as Tony Fast Sr.), SpongeBob taking sentimental value WAY too far, the Frozen Face-off with a stop-motion-animated Abominable Snow-Mollusk (all her animation was a warm-up for the aforementioned instant holiday classic, from the same people who made Truth Or Square's special opening), Patrick being "grown up" due to a sleeping wooly urchin, SpongeBob's OralReportItis, the 2nd SpongeBob mini-series ever made (Runaway Roadtrip, though never called that name on this set, containing 1 double-length special and 4 single-length chapters), 2 beloved instant holiday classics (Ghoul Fools for Halloween and It's A SpongeBob Christmas, the latter being SpongeBob AND Nick's first all-stop-motion-animated special, but in letterbox-Widescreen on this set, and also another non-Rankin/Bass, -Disney, or -Hanna Barbera Christmas favorite of mine.Read more ›

The new Spongebob special, "Hello Bikini Bottom" (A.K.A. "Spongebob On Tour"), was really impressive, especially for a new episode!

It had a solid plot, and contained humor much like that of the classic episodes (1999-2004). Squidward even vaguely referenced what is (arguably) one of the series's most popular episodes: "Band Geeks". But what really won me over was the extremely impressive montage-esque musical numbers. Like the humor, the songs harkened back to Spongebob's golden era, which is something we haven't seen in a while. The songs in this special honestly remind me of classic Spongebob songs, such as; "Ripped Pants", "Loop de Loop", "F.U.N Song", and "Without You". For a few seasons, the show's music seemed forced, unoriginal, unfunny, and EXTREMELY corny. There is no doubt that seasons 5, 6, and some of 7 flat-out sucked, but season 8 showed a huge incline in the show's quality. This particular special is proof that the show is going back uphill. I'm happy to announce that, after 4 or 5 years of thinking my favorite childhood show was done for, it is now back in full-swing. It's great to have good 'ole Spongey Back!
