Once a staple of urban neighborhood movie palaces in the 1940 s through late 1960 s, the Spook Show was a hilarious and slightly macabre evening show of magic, comedy, and campy horror films featuring the highlight Blackout Sequence, a bit where in the darkness of the theater, patrons actually see glowing ghosts materialize out of thin air and fly just over their heads, see through skeletons dance and tell jokes on stage, and SWEAR they can hear, feel, and see spirits frolicking all around them in their seats - all presented by a magicians/hosts often referred to as Ghostmasters
To advertise these shows, Ghostmasters distributed theatrical movie trailers advertising the amazingly horrific sights they would experience when they came to see the show. Most of these film trailers have been lost to history, but thanks in part to a small dedicated fan base, some of these film trailers were saved.
This DVD contains dozens of trailers (over 45 minutes in length) once used to advertise spook shows - many of which haven't been seen in decades. Featured performers include Dr. Evil (Phillip Morris), Dr. Silkini (Jack & Wyman Baker), Kara Kum, Dr. London, and many of others - including several rare trailers produced by Filmac (the famous movie trailer company) which were made for the local Ghostmasters that were not able to afford their own custom trailer!
The footage has been digitally re-mastered and stabilized where needed.
Have fun this Halloween and experience vintage entertainment at it's finest!
