I am trying to grow out my hair and several things I have heard is that you need be gentle with your hair and not shampoo it as often.
I really like the brush for this two purposes. The bristles are really gentle and massaging. It is gentle but still combs through my hair. I do have softer hair and its fine, so I'm not sure how it would perform on thicker or more course hair. I have noticed that my hair does not fall out as much while brushing with this brush. The toughest brushing time for me is always in the morning, trying to get the knots out from tossing around, and I do have to use a wide tooth comb sometimes to get all the knots out, but for the most part, it does the job.
As to not shampooing as often, my hair gets oily pretty fast. I was pretty wary about this advice to grow out my hair because I didn't want to have oily, gross hair as a result. However, I read that boar bristle brushes help distribute the oils in your hair, and it certainly does! I went three days without shampooing my hair, and the third day it just looked like my hair was really smooth and moisturized, rather than dried out.
All in all, I would say its a great brush compared to the regular plastic bristles. Compared to other boar bristle brushes though - I can't tell you.
Also, that static though. I thought i was going to be struck by lightning any moment. I was a rocking an afro the entire day. YIKES
On the other hand, it works well on my straight fine hair. I have enough hair, so it does not reach the deep layers, but I like this aspect, so it does not break my hair. Moreover, it distributes the oil on the hair pretty well.
In conclusion, for my experience this brush is not good for thin or very short hair, but it works well on fine straight long hair.
A 100% boar bristle brush's main purpose is to take your natural oils produced from your roots and to spread it evenly to the rest of your hair. It will not detangle longer hair, expect to use a seperate brush afterwards. So to address the reviews stating it's bristles are too soft to comb throughout your hair, what you're most likely wanting is a mix of nylon/boar bristles.
Highly recommend this product!
