Pretty decent umbrella, but the side stakes don't work at the beach. They just pull out as soon as you put them in. I recommend you buy 2 extra stakes that are the screw in variety for the beach.Sun coverage is good. Size is good. You can fit 3 chairs. Pretty lightweight.Assembly is relatively easy. I purposely didn't let the man in my group put it up so I knew how difficult it would be, and it wasn't bad, other than the non functional side stakes.All in all, I currently give it a solid 4. But this is with only 1 use.

easy to assemble and disassemble. there's an attachment piece, the auger which screws into the ground. it also has an extra straight metal piece to help you screw it into the ground as it will get tough to screw in.

you can use it as a standing umbrella or you can use it as laying on its side as a lot of the pictures display. if you are going to use it as a standing umbrella you will need to screw in the auger into the ground. that'll be the only way it actually stands up. if you wanted to lay on its side you don't need to screw it into the ground. however if it's windy you will need to screw the auger into the ground even if it's laying on its side and use the provided stakes to stake in the sides of the umbrella. the stakes are included in the package

the umbrella really provided a lot of shade for a family of four. we use it during soccer practice but there was no wind so I couldn't speak on the durability. I did take a close look at the veins (metal folding pieces) of the umbrella. it is stitched on by about four threads every 6 inches. this does not look like it will last long.

although the four threads holding the veins of the umbrella together looks like he'll fall apart in the future I'll update my star rating if it doesn't last. it would be unfair of me to remove a star just because of what I think would happen but actually has not.

the carrying case that it comes with also feels like it's going to fall apart within a year. the fabric of the carrying case is very thin and stitched onto the covering of the umbrella. the weight of the umbrella feels like the stitching for the case would fall apart in the near future. I don't think that's an issue I would just buy another durable carrying case for it.

overall I really like the umbrella really easy to set up and break down. hoping to get at least 3 years out of it

this is a very well designed and functional unbrella/tent. My beach chairs are high and yet I can sit in them under this umbrella when it is set up as a tent. the fact that it can be a tent or an umbrella is useful. If there is wind, you can use the tent stakes for extra support.

Also, the designers included a piece that prevents the umbrella from flipping inside out in strong wind. Last, they included a metal bar on the lower piece that makes it easy to rotate the base deep into the ground.

The only con I can think of is that the top is plastic and looks like plastic. Most of the Tommy Bahamas use plastic that looks like canvas.

Kind of a lot of work to set up. Especially if you are by yourself with more than one kid. It's a nice shady space once it's set up. Roomy, breezy, and UV protection. When my husband is home this is awesome. When I'm alone I may or may not bring it out. Its not worth having to leave this unsecured to go get my toddler from the waters edge while youre setting it up. At first I couldn't set it deep enough and it toppled backwards on another family while I was in the water. I felt terrible and they were pissed. Mostly user error but they could make the instructions more dummy friendly. I'm not sure if I would recommend this or not.
