This is a well written story. The characters are very likable.
Whenever Serenity Woods has a new book, I always plan to set aside a few hours to emerge myself in the wonderful stories she creates in Aotearoa, In her new novel, As Deep as the Ocean, she starts a new series set in the Northland or the North Island of New Zealand.
Mac thinks he is inheriting the winery that his father had managed until he discovers a letter written to the daughters of the man who his father had worked for. This is when Mac realizes that the will his father had left behind was a lie. Mac showing that he was the better man than his father writes the daughters to let them know that their father had not forgotten them and they had inherited a winery in New Zealand. This alone shows you that Mac is a man of high moral character.
All three daughters arrive in New Zealand having decided that no matter what happens, life in New Zealand will be better than it has been back in England.
Fred, aka Winfred, is the eldest daughter and the one who has been the caretaker in the family. She is the one who has decided that she will become the wine expert but she is also smart enough to realize just how little she knows. She realizes that they need Mac to stay on and run the winery for them while she is still learning.
The main thing that is needed by the winery is a huge influx of cash. Due to how the will is set up, the girls can get a decent amount of cash but only upon their marriage. Mac and Fred realize that a marriage of convenience is in the best interest of everyone. And this is when things start to get interesting. Can Fred and Mac keep their relationship platonic? Or will the sparks ignite a fire that everyone else can see is blazing between the two?
This book is a stand alone although there are references to characters in other books by Ms. Woods. If this is your first book by Ms. Woods, you are in for a fantastic treat. Fans of Ms. Woods know what they are in for with her books - an escape into the wonderful world of New Zealand and the well developed characters.
I did receive a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a free, unbiased review. Although, I would be reviewing it regardless of this fact. Her books are that good.
Mr. Insatiable is very different and involves a fun romp where Enya wants to do "research" with her friend Kit and see how he got his reputation in bed. It almost feels wrong to have lusty feelings for a long-time friend but she cannot resist, as long as her brother doesn't find out. What is meant to be a fun tryst ends up getting more serious though as they start to have feelings. The book is fun, sexy and a great beach read. Sometimes your true love is standing right next to you all along. I volunteer to read and review books for Serenity and I enjoy them all!
