The reason I gave this product 4 out of 5 is due to the older technology. USB 3.0 is becoming a lot more common as well as the need for higher capacity. I contacted the manufacturer asking if they had any plans to update this product. Their response was no, If I want USB 3.0 or more storage I could buy one of their other devices. Problem with that is they aren't as convenient to carry around.

UPDATE: I had to have this replaced almost a month after buying it because it became Write-Protected some how and couldn't be erased or partitioned. LaCie was really nice about it and understood I couldn't send back the old one because of security issues. However I have come to find that file transfers are slow and result in errors frequently.
The physical size is very small in comparison to other "normal" flash drives and even to most keys (see my customer image). It's also as thick and as light as a key, so nothing weighing you down. It feels solid enough - though I wouldn't try running it over with my car or anything. And even though it claims to be waterproof, I'm not about to test it intentionally. :-) No cap to loose - the connector is recessed below some metal. It moves freely around my standard key ring without trouble. I'll say it "blends well" with the other keys due to the shape.
Usable capacity after being formatted with NTFS is: 30,988,759,040 bytes (28.8 GBs)
Tested read/write speeds out of CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 x64 are 20.0 MB/sec and 5.6 MB/sec respectively (see my customer image). I confirmed the same numbers independently by copying a 4 GB file to and from the flash drive. About 85 minutes to fill it to capacity and 24 minutes to read it all back. They are respectable, but definitely won't win any awards. Still, remember that the use-case for this drive is portability first and foremost. It'll work fine for occasional backups and transfers, but less so with SpeedBoost or bootable OS images. The drive is a USB 2.0 model which is more than adequate considering the peak speed.
I haven't had the durability/bending problems mentioned by Robert S. Perhaps it was an issue that was fixed in the last 8 months, and they are making them more durable now. Or at least it is a manufacturing problem that is inconsistent.
Overall, it's a great product and no complaints (yet).

The build quality is poor. There is a gap between the two metal pieces that protect the electronics. I didn't think it worth the hassle to have it replaced. I guess I'll see how it holds up to daily use.
