Both born into the MC life, and both treated like they had been invisible when they were young. Nevada's parents - Hulk and a club girl seemed not to mind that they forced a life on their daughter that she didn't deserve. The club felt responsible for her, and passed her from one home to the next. Nevada learned to trust no one, and to be in the background as much as possible.
Nevada was grown up now, and no one figured that out faster than Fuse, and he was determined to have her since she wasn't claimed by any of his other Brothers, and that made her fair game. Sadly for Fuse, Wizard stopped by the house just in the nick of time to save Nevada, but not Fuse. Wizard goes to the President, Stone, and tells him he is claiming Nevada so she doesn't have to worry about Fuse or any other Brother thinking she was free game. Stone is a bit taken back, but glad Wizard is thinking of Nevy, especially with guys like Fuse.
Nevada has always been grateful for the kindness and time that Wizard gave her, and thought she hit the lottery when he announced he was going to claim her as his Old Lady. But she also knew this isn't what the older, hardened biker really wanted. No one ever stood up for her before, and she always thought Wizard was rather attractive too.
Wizard knew the arrangement wasn't going to be the traditional style relationship between and Old Many and his Old Lady as Nevada was so much younger than him, but he figured if she was safe it was worth it. He could have meals, the house cleaned up, and his laundry done, and he'd be happy. He could get a club chaser anytime he needed some relief, he didn't need Nev for that, and he had all the best intentions about it too. Unfortunately, things didn't work out quite the way he planned. At the party the club threw for them, he saw a very grown up, very beautiful and sexy Nevada, and Stone noticed Wizard's confused interest about his new Old Lady.
Nevada's father comes back into the picture to protest that Wizard took his daughter as his Old Lady without even bothering to ask his permission. Both Wizard and Nev took great exception to Hulk's sudden fatherly concern. He brooded angrily, but he also saw that he was a little late in Nev's life to start acting the disgruntled father when he just took off and left her in everyone else's care. Hulk also saw that his daughter was happy and coming slowly out of the safe walls she erected her whole life.
Nevada and Wizard become a couple in fact at a club camping trip. Nev came out of the tent in time to see club bunny, Trixie trying to get Wizard to have a "good time" with her. This upset Nev, and Wizard left Trixie standing there, and went after Nevada. From then on the became close in every sense of the word. Nev and Wizard were both falling for each other, but both convinced themselves that it would be wrong to say the L word.
The club, always looking for legitimate businesses to use as fronts, took Wizard's advice and they opened a pawn shop. He recommended that Nevada go to gemology school so they could taken in some high-end, big ticket jewelry. Nevada loved working towards her certification, and having a job other than helping to manage and waitressing at the club's strip club.
Sadly for Wizard and Nevada, both Fuse and Trixie were going to get even with both of them if it was the last thing they did. They both went over to a lesser MC, and started the sinister plans that included an "accident" that nearly killed Wizard, and a car bombing that could have killed Nev, but hurt badly one of the prospects assigned to watch over Nevada.
This couple had more difficult times because of Wizard's accident, and Nevada asked to be sent to the chapter in Las Vegas rather than continue to watch Wizard struggle with his memory loss to remember her and the deep relationship they had.
Kings of Chaos took out the smaller insignificant club, and dealt with Trixie, but discovered that Fuse discovered where the Kings had sent Nevada, and he was on his way there to kill her before the Kings could figure it out.
I don't want to spoil the ending, but want to say that this is the second book I have read from this series - a bit out of order, and I am so impressed with Shyla Colt's storylines and writing style. As always, I point out that another editorial pass would have made this book perfect, particularly when you purchase for $3.99!
Other people may identify with the characters better than I did so don't take my rating as don't ever read the book. It's just a book I couldn't get too deep into.
