The Sage knife represents Spyderco's 30-year pledge to knife crafting and continuous improvement. The Sage is equipped with a CPM-S30V steel blade with a PlainEdge that's ground flat for precise cutting. The blade is paired with a twill-woven carbon fiber handle that vibrantly combines bonded multi-colored fibers. The weaving runs deep, making ridges and textures for the palm to grasp while gripping and cutting. The knife's main distinguishing feature, however, is the LinerLock folding system. Designed by knifemaker Michael Walker, the LinerLock system is one of many ingenious locking devices and mechanisms that Spyderco recognizes with the Sage series. The Sage concludes with a silhouette wire pocket clip that adjusts for left- or right-hand carry.
Spyderco will donate approximately five percent of sales of the Sage to the National Alzheimer's Association Denver, Colorado chapter.

Buy this knife and you will not want to carry any other.
I took a jump into this one looking for a nice EDC when I lost a kershaw blur I had been carrying for 8 years. I had switched to a ZT 350 I had, but it is a heavy peice to carry. I did end up returning this knife.
Beautiful; CF/G10 scales are well done and everything is nicely finished.
Lockup is tight, no blade wiggle.
Came super sharp. I always sharpen my knives to shaving sharp. This came the way I sharpen my knives. Also easily sliced paper and all the fun stuff you see on YouTube.
Light, thin, deepish carry and discreet.
Wire clip (also a con) is nice and discreet. Could have been a solid pro, but in this case it wasn't.
Blade has nice choil and jimping.
Tight opening. Could be done with a thumb, but no flicking it open with a middle finger or without some significant wrist movement. I am used to the assisted opening knives from ZT, kershaw, and other smooth flippers though. I spent a couple days driving around ( i am in the car a lot for work) just opening and closing it for hours to break it in. I also lived it using some slip 2000 ewl, which is an excellent and slick lube if you aren't familiar. No dice. Never loosened. I wanted to love this and keep it, and being no stranger to adjusting knives I went to adjust the tension. The screws were buggered up. I decided I didn't want to further mess them up and returned it.
Not as heavy duty a knife I am used to, but offset by the light weight.
Clip: issue is that due to lateral movement required to flick the blade open, the clip began to slightly bend. If the knife opened smoothly this may be the best clip ever. However it only comes with the ability to carry it tip up, blade back in pocket, which isn't my preferred method.
Height when folded (measured blade spine to handle spine) is large. The knife is thin and lightweight but seems to be much bigger than it is due to the height when in pocket.
Very nice knife, if it had been a smoother opener and the screws weren't buggered from the factory I would have kept it. It doesn't present as a hard use knife, but it felt like it would stand up to more than you think. Beautifully finished, height is a little much for weight and size. I feel the ZT 566 offers better steel, more comfortable carry despite increased weight, and a more substantial built. It is not as elegant, however.
Update: I stand by all of the above and then some...this blade truly the perfect EDC; compact, sharp, quality steel, but not menacing. I have the Para 2, and Manix 2 which are terrific blades, same steel. Those blades are built with different tasks in mind. This Sage model to me has no real flaws...love carrying it.
