First introduced in 1990, the Spyderco Delica was one of the first lightweight, high-performance, one-hand-open pocketknives ever developed. A consistent best seller, it has evolved steadily over the years through Spyderco's CQI (Constant Quality Improvement) process. The Delica 4 features enhanced ergonomics, screw-together construction, and a four-position clip for versatile carry options. Its fiberglass reinforced nylon handles are molded with Bi-Directional Texturing for improved traction and control and are supported by dual skeletonized stainless steel liners. The liners increase structural strength without adding weight and provide a framework to anchor all external and internal components. Its VG-10 blade is flat saber-ground with a stronger tip and larger 13mm opening hole. This version is also black titanium carbonitride coated to reduce reflection and provide increased corrosion resistance. Phosphor bronze washers ensure a smooth action, and textured jimping on the spine guarantees positive control during use.
In 1990, innovative cutlery company Spyderco introduced a knife called the Delica, a first of its kind on the market, offering a unique combination of lightweight performance, one-handed opening and closing, and an affordable price. it quickly became one of Spyderco's top-selling knives, and the company has continued to refine the model over the years.
This is the fourth iteration of this keenly sharp, refined steel blade, offering screw-together construction that's durable and easy to clean. A fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle has proprietary Bi-Directional Texturing for nonslip use with improved ergonomics, while dual skeletonized steel liners to improve strength without adding weight, and also anchor all external components. A razor sharp non-reflective VG-10 blade is coated with black titanium carbonitride, and is flat saber-ground. Crosshatched jimping along the blade's spine further improves grip, and phosphor bronze washers help smooth out the opening action. When it's time to move, a four-way clip offers a number of carrying configurations.

Thinking beyond established knife industry practices has allowed Spyderco to introduce new innovations, including one-hand opening, serrations on a folder, and a clip to attach a knife to a pocket. Spyderco remains dedicated to researching and developing improved, better-performing materials with function and reliability, and its unique cutlery line is a result of designing ergonomic, functional tools. The company puts its new products through rigorous testing prior to release, examining edge retention with a CATRA machine, looking for rust development with Q-FOG, checking the force needed to open and close a knife, and analyzing numerous other technical details.

To those thinking about buying this knife I would say this: unless you have bigger hands, the Delica is the better choice. In terms of being comfortable in my hand, Delica felt better than the Endura. I recommend going to a store and opening them one-handed and you'll feel the difference. Delica is a great size, a perfect EDC, and comes with quality VG-10 steel blade, and a steel-reinforced FRN grippy handle so it will stay in your pocket. Plus the all black looks good!
The knife showed up a couple of days earlier than I expected.
I carry this knife on my weak side pocket, and I think the black coating lessens the "shock effect" when used to open a box or something like that. Also, I appreciate the black clip which helps it to disappear in a slacks pocket.
I also carry a leatherman in it's sheath everyday, my CCW, and a neck knife constantly...but this little gem has immediately earned a spot in my daily carry. Like a J-frame....it's easy to see why so many people like this knife once you give it a try.
The blade and construction feel very sturdy and it is extremely sharp. I carry it with me everywhere. I will definitely buy more for gifts and probably a few more for myself.
