From the brand
How we got our start?Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Spyderco’s first knife-related product was the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker. Originally sold out of a converted bread truck, it remains one of our best-selling products over 40 years later.
What makes our product unique?Spyderco pioneered the modern folding knife, introducing now-common features like the pocket clip, serrated edge and one-handed opening capability. Those innovations revolutionized the pocketknife and changed the knife industry forever. Those who know carry Spyderco.
Why we love what we do?Today, that creative spirit and an uncompromising commitment to quality are still the heart of Spyderco's distinctive product line, which includes a full range of folding knives, fixed-blades, sharpeners & other accessories produced in 5 different countries, including our facility in Golden, CO USA.
The Para 3 Family
Spyderco's best-selling Para 3 folding knife distilled all the key qualities of their time-tested Para Military 2 model into an ultra-compact, carry-friendly format. Now, this groundbreaking design takes another quantum leap forward by incorporating injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales and a streamlined version of Spyderco's patented Compression Lock mechanism to create the Para 3 Lightweight.
Almost 30 percent lighter than its G-10-handled counterparts, the Para 3 Lightweight boasts linerless, open-backed construction and Spyderco's high-traction Bi-Directional Texture pattern for a secure grip. A stainless steel lock bar inset into the handle's interior forms the foundation of its sturdy lock mechanism, while keeping the overall weight to an absolute minimum.
The knife's full-flat-ground blade is crafted from CTS BD1N, nitrogen-enriched high-carbon chromium steel that offers a superior balance of hardness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. Available with a choice of PlainEdge or fully serrated SpyderEdge cutting edges.

All in all I am enjoying this great knife as my current favorite edc. I'll update herein if or when it loses it dominance.
On a side note, my package from amazon came flat as a pancake. The Spyderco box was a little deformed but the knife was in perfect condition.
I completely disassembled and cleaned this knife the other day. Tuned it up so it was “passable”. And today, it’s all gummed up again. Maybe my blue locktite bled into the pivot or something? I want so much for this to work well that I may clean it one more time... will watch Nick Shabazz video to be sure I am putting it together correctly and no locktite this go round. If it doesn’t work, then I am going to toss it in the back of the drawer and never think about it again! Maybe I’ll even send Spyderco a pointed email about their cheap, shitty design!
I own about 15 Spyderco knives and this is BY FAR the WORST of ‘em all. Even my aging, well-worn Delica operates more smoothly! I should’ve bought the real Para3 with G10 handles... would likely have been much, much better!
My only complaint has been the stiffness of the action out of the box. A little tweaking and lubrication and its silly smooth.
As for the title of this review, it disappears in my pocket with even the lovely clip being unobtrusive. I could easily forget that it's there if I wasn't reaching for it all time. This is my first foray into Spyderco and I love it. The standard para3 is up next so I csn get some custom scales on it.
It also fits really well in my pocket. So all in all a great knife that I expect to have for many years to come.
