Persistence means steadfastness and never-give-up-attitude. Spyderco's G-10 Persistence Plain Edge Knife sports a milled G-10 laminate handle with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind. Comfort in hand means easier use long-term. Skeletonized steel liners tucked inside the handle, increase the handle's rigidity and strength level without adding non-functional weight or bulkiness. The 8Cr13MoV stainless blade is a modified skinning-style, ground-flat. Careful positioning of the oversized Spyderco Round Hole, relative to the location of the pivot, pre-set the hand in just the right spot for fumble-free one-hand blade open/close. Fully sharpened edge from tip to tang generates the most cutting edge possible for the blade's length. A 4-way pocket clip lets the folder set tip-up/tip-down left-hand/right-hand. Walker Linerlock has a jimped liner. Screw together construction.Weight 4.2 oz (120 g).

After 4 years, still awesome. All components tight and functioning well. My daily carry.
Update: November 2015
Still awesome. My daily carry.
This light weight knife is comfortable as a pocket knife while maintaining functionality. It fits well in my hand(I typically wear large sized golves for reference)as well as in the little pocket that sits above my front pants pocket. I've always wondered what this small pocket was for - now i know. It is so light i never notice that it's on my person. It's not an intimidating knife, if that's what you're into, however, it is nice looking. It locks open tightly and is not loose in any direction. Sharp as heck right out of the box.
I got this knife because Spyderco has a reputation for excellence, because of its size, and because of its design. The Spyderco reputation is well-deserved based on this product. I know when I first purchased this knife (many years ago) there was some concern about Spyderco outsourcing their manufacturing. I cannot speak to the specifics of this, but I can say that if so, quality has not suffered. This knife is sturdy but maneuverable, hefty without feeling clunky.
The size is ideal and was ultimately the selling point for this knife over other, similar Spyderco offerings. The Tenacious is this knife's slightly larger sibling, but even that slight increase in size makes the knife seem too big for casual use and something that might get you concerned looks. On the other end of the spectrum, the very similar Ambitious, which is slightly smaller, feels too small to get most jobs done and is likely too tiny for most people's hands to grip comfortably. The Persistence really is the one that is just right.
Finally, the elegance of this knife's design is in its simplicity. The open design of the handle keeps the blade clean and the whole thing light. The grip is firm in your hand. The linerlock is strong and easy to use. The thumb hole is well placed and makes opening the blade a breeze, while still having the knife stay firmly shut until you want it to open.
Do yourself a favor and get this exceedingly useful knife.
upon closer inspection, the bearing that secures the blade closed works well, hand holds it securely, but allows for an easy one-hand opening. the clip is in the best position for righties who prefer a tip-down carry, but can be altered to any of the 4 basic configurations (special wrench to do so not included). lastly, the pivot has been generously oiled so it spins swiftly, and silently into the best snug locked position: the shoulder on the back of the blade has been filed-out to a perfect fit against the lock.
to-date, my favorite knife in an ongoing collection.
