How we got our start?Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Spyderco’s first knife-related product was the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker. Originally sold out of a converted bread truck, it remains one of our best-selling products over 40 years later.
What makes our product unique?Spyderco pioneered the modern folding knife, introducing now-common features like the pocket clip, serrated edge and one-handed opening capability. Those innovations revolutionized the pocketknife and changed the knife industry forever. Those who know carry Spyderco.
Why we love what we do?Today, that creative spirit and an uncompromising commitment to quality are still the heart of Spyderco's distinctive product line, which includes a full range of folding knives, fixed-blades, sharpeners & other accessories produced in 5 different countries, including our facility in Golden, CO USA.

The biggest draw this knife has is its price. Yes you can definitely find other knives at a similar price point or even cheaper, but you will have difficulty finding a similar option from a company as reputable as Spyderco. That being said, this obviously is not one of their premium knives, this is very much their attempt at a budget friendly option. With that in mind let's take a look at what the Tenacious has to offer. First, lets look at the pocket clip, while I do have one small issue with it I love the ability to carry my knives tip up like many people so anything beyond that is just extra that may not be used but is nice to have. Next we have the spydie hole. I will be honest, this did take some getting used to but once I did I fell in love with the mechanics. I find it almost entertaining to flick the blade open. It is definitely easier to use my thumb, but I have gotten much better with my index and middle fingers. I also want to point out that his knife is incredibly comfortable in your hand. The G-10 Scales are very comfortable and your thumb rests perfectly at the base of the blade allowing you to have complete control over your actions.
I have two very small complaints. The first is a design issue in my opinion, I love that I can move the pocket clip around to four different positions but I really wish that they offered a deep carry option. This obviously is not a major deal for most people but I would prefer that capability. The other issue is that I have noticed a weird squeak when opening the blade slowly without doing a spydie flip. I think that this is just the metal rubbing together and like I said I do not notice it when opening the blade normally.
Like I mentioned earlier, this is obviously a budget Spyderco knife. That being said, you definitely aren't cutting a ton of corners to the point that you feel cheated. Yes there are some noticeable differences between this knife and some of their top of the line products like a difference in steel and locking mechanism. However, taking in the overall design and quality of the Tennacious and you are left with an affordable introduction to a very good knife company. I have been carrying this knife in between the testing of other new blades and don't really want to put it down. I would love to upgrade to one of their other designs but just cannot bring myself to drop a couple hundred dollars on a pocket knife. Oh well, that is my problem not yours. To wrap things up, this almost instantly became one of my top three favorite knives to carry currently and I am incredibly happy I purchased it.
8cr13mov, 600 grit 15dps
Did some trimming grass around a tree.
200 whittle strokes still shaving
I did 10 chops through a small stick after each 200 whittles.
I did 100 stabs into a stump to see if the edge dulled or point flattened. There was minor dulling.
400 needs pressure but still shaving.
600 shaving gone.
20 strop strokes, shaving is back.
At 1000 whittle strokes, still rough shaving a few hairs.
Cut 8x1 yard patch of grass, still shaving if i try really hard.
There are cheaper knives that are decent, and there are far more expensive knives with more bells and whistles, but if you're looking for a large, quality workhorse of a knife, this is a great choice.

Very sharp out of the box, smooth opening operation. Nicely oiled from the factory.
The locking mechanism is very good too.
Decided to get one and am very impressed with it. Easy one handed operation after some practice. Nice size blade which keeps it edge well. Looks nice to. Use it for anything from sharpening pencils to slicing carrots.
Good middle of the road price too.
Everything about the knife is ok and I like knife in general BUT. When the knife arrived it was blunt and I mean blunt.
The least you expect from a new knife is it to be sharp. However I am keeping the knife as I quite like it in general. I will need to put that edge on myself which is not good on a new knife.
The reason for four stars is the bluntness of the knife otherwise it would be five stars.
