Recently I ordered a boom box that ended up having a problem. Just so happened that since I was only using it sparingly at the time I did not notice the problem until after the return date for Amazon to take it back. No problem since I had opted to purchase a "protection plan". So I went to the site to see about how to go about starting a claim. The first thing I noticed that there was some confusing verbiage about how I only had so many days to file a claim and the last day would be the day after I began to check. This was confusing since it was a multi-year plan. So I called Amazon in the morning. They connected me to Square Trade. Now here is where the problem starts and it might be a language problem, it might be a training problem that creates misunderstandings, or it might be this is how this company works. The rep for Square Trade started off by telling me that he needed a copy of my receipt. I explained to him that this was an on line transaction and that I had no "receipt" to speak of. He continued demanding that I had to present a receipt. I said that he apparently he must have a receipt of some type there since he had my name, the price I paid for the item in question, where I bought it. No he wanted a receipt. At this point I was beyond frustrated and I didn't think of asking if the Amazon order number would do nor did he suggest that. I told him that I wanted my item repaired or replaced. He said he would give back my money I spent for the plan. Now wait a minute I have a protection plan for a couple years, the item doesn't work and you want to give me back my plan money. I don't really see the point of this... for work I ordered 6 radios that came out to the cheap price of $80 and since it was on the cheaper end I wanted to make sure if it stopped working I would be able to exchange or replace since they would be seeing a lot of use.
Well less than 30 days later the items stopped working... good thing I have that warranty... NOT
They denied my claim in less than 15 seconds... If warranty doesn't cover this basic damage then what is the point. Don't even sell it at that point. I will be contacting the seller as well but the whole point of selling me insurance is to ensure that I won't be left with nothing if the item breaks.

Thanks for nothing... I don't recommend getting insurance because they will just find any way to deny you.
The funny part is that they claim they are above other warranty companies but in the end they are all the same...

Don't bother... this is an industry that makes their money from people forgetting they paid for warranty and never using and denying claims. This is their business model and I am upset that I gave them additional revenue to support this terrible business.

Squaretrade is made up of a bunch of cheats. I had to get a refund for my item and had to wait three and a half weeks for that check to come after a week of waiting for them to receive my item. They have a 7 to 10 day guarantee on their checks. I had to call a bunch of times and 3 different times they hung up on me after waiting for about 40 minutes. This is pure s***.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to give a -10 (minus 10) star rating. If it were possible, I would choose it!!

I purchased this protection plan for the Baofeng VF-F9 v2+ radio that I purchased at the same time. Email confirmation of purchase indicated a different product being covered. After numerous attempts to get the corrected confirmation of coverage, and contacting Amazon about the issue, Square Trade still didn't get it right!!!!! Protection plan cancelled, and refunded. I won't purchase again!

I used to sell cars. If I paid for an extended warranty it was a mistake or they hid the price in the unit. Extended warranties are like all insurance - you never need it until you need it. In this day and age everything is made to last @ 5 - 6 years and if the warranty doesn't go beyond that it's not worth the paper it's written on !!!!!

If you buy ANY type of Electronics, from "Gadgets to TV's" you NEED some type of protection.
Why ?? Because sooner or later something might go wrong with it. I believe this: "It's better to have it and not need it than NEED it and NOT HAVE IT !" Especially when it comes to electronic items. The new MP3/MP4 players have a lot more features on them these days as opposed to 5 years ago and that just means that there's more things can go wrong with them. So do yourself a favor....get some "Protection" for when your original Warranty runs out. The cost is SO CHEAP and the BENEFITS are SO GREAT ! You'll thank yourself when something does go wrong with it. ( Hopefully nothing will happen but you never can be 100% sure !)
