The Squier by Fender Bullet Strat HSS with tremolo is an affordable and practical electric guitar designed for anyone’s budget. It has many of the ingredients that have propelled the Stratocaster to be one of the most iconic guitars ever made. The HSS is the abbreviation for the 3 types of magnetic pickups loaded into the pickguard of this model - Humbucker, Single Coil, Single Coil or HSS for short. The rich and thick tones of a humbucker compliment the clean clear tones that are indicative of a single coil. This Squier is a perfect choice for a first guitar no matter who you are or what style of music you want to learn. Welcome to the Fender family!

Don't get me wrong, this is a cheap, cheap guitar and should be regarded as such - keep your expectations down and they will be rewarded. This is a great first guitar.
This is an excellent guitar for the beginner or regular player. Given that the ability of the player will make any instrument a positive or negative experience, let it be said that quality of this instrument allows an experienced player to perform well.
The guitars we received were manufactured in China. That said, political or idealogical allegiances aside, I will review the craftsmanship of the products we receieved based on a comparison to an official Fender Stratocaster:
Material and Manufacture:
-The frets on this guitar are finshed to the Rosewood fingerboard properly and have no catches, crimps or snags. They are smooth to the maple neck sides and are uniformly set within the face of the Rosewood fingerboard.
-The head of the guitar is finished properly and the tuning pegs have sufficient tension to hold the strings in tune and are adjustable for fine movement for accurate tuning. This has varied on other guitars and makes at this price, and the quality of this guitar is acceptable compared to an original Strat in comparing quality versus price. Like any machine, the higher the quality, the higher the price. In this case, the quality is in excess of the price on this particular part. Heavy bending or heavy Tremolo action do not excessively detune this quitar as with many makes, indicating that these pegs are higher in quality.
-The base of the guitar is well made, and the finish of the guitar is on the same level as an original Strat. It's finish is excellent. The base is made of heavier wood, and therefore results in a guitar that is slightly heavier than an original Strat, but the dimensions of this guitar are near identical to the original Strat.
-The pick guard is a single layer laser cut plastic guard that is screwed to the base with a protective plastic film. This film is tenuous to remove. The fit and finish quality of the pick guard is not the same as the three layer guard on the original Strat, but does not affect play. It can be replaced with a more expensive pick guard if the user desires.
Electronics and Mechanics:
-The 5 position pick-up selector of this guitar is as what would be expected in the price range. It is slightly less heavy in it's feel, and is not the same quality of an original Strat. However, it functions and serves the player well.
-The 3 pick-ups vary in quality of installation from guitar to quitar, and are inexpensive. They are ample for the beginner. The good news is that more expensive pick-ups (and selector) can be added to enhance the quality and playability. They are acceptable for a guitar in this price range. The electronics and pick-ups can be accessed via the rear cover.
-The Tone, Volume and Gain knobs are similar in quality to an original Strat, but the pots (potentiometers)are sub quality as expected but very ample for this guitar in it's price range. Given the cost difference, this is acceptable.
-The Tremolo comes unattached. It is easily screwed into the bridge, and is adequate for use with the supplied bridge. It can be removed for play without it's use without affecting the action.
-The Bridge is one place where there is a difference in quality and fine machining of parts. The bridge is fully adjustable, and of sufficient quality for play. The original Strat has a finer and more precise bridge mechanism. it appears this is the only place aside from the electronics the manufacturer has cut cost in order to reduce the price of the guitar. Given that this section of the guitar can also be upgraded/replaced, it is acceptable for the price range.
The cost of this item is far below what I would have expected for the quality. Given that the deficits this guitar has compared to an original Strat costing 6+ times as much, I dare say that you will be dissappointed. Any part of the guitar that saved cost versus quality can later be upgraded to acheive results needed.
One thing to note- players are often loyal to their instruments...as a first guitar that is upgradable, due to it's inexpensive cost of ownership, our experience has been that beginners start with the guitar out of the box, and as their ability and quality of play advances, they upgrade or add items to enhance the quality of the instrument. This guitar makes a perfect foundation for that process, and can be enhanced to match the player's ability.
The Squier by Fender product is exceptional at this price point. Given the proper amp/accessory package, any student or beginner can be happy with this guitar.
The product comes well packaged and it's initial setup is very easy.

After 3 months of use, this guitar started falling apart. To have it as a "initial" guitar to start learning to play electric is ok.Read more
