Nick is coming to St. Helena to visit his Godfather Max but also he's wanting to heal his heart after the sudden loss of his brother. But there's another reason that he's there and it could hurt Cassie's dream of buying Plum Crazy when he boss retires.
All Cassie wants is to buy the little two person surveying business and keep it as it is. But the sudden arrival of Nick not only gives her hormones a run for their money but may possibly give her a partner for life.
I Loved the book wish it could've been longer. This is my first book by Pamela Gibson and I doubt it will be my last one a I've found a new author to read.
This was my first time reading a story by Pamela Gibson, and I was very impressed. The characters were well-developed and so incredibly likable. The scenes were perfectly paced and interesting, and I never found myself feeling like things were rushed at all which is rare for a novella. Ms. Gibson nailed it perfectly. I was actually disappointed when I felt the book winding down because I was enjoying the story and characters so much. I wish the call from Cassie's sister had been explained more. It makes me wonder if there is a second book in the future where we meet her sister and learn what that was about, or if it was a red herring plot device. I would happily read another St Helena story by this author, so I hope there is a second book in the future.
The only issue I had with this novella is that editing changes were visible throughout the book. I know the author had some issues with this problem and uploaded a new copy (which is the copy that I bought) so I know that she has tried to fix this, but unfortunately it didn't work. For the most part, it wasn't an issue and I could read the story just fine, but the sex scene was so frustratingly full of edits that I skipped over it. Which was fine, but unfortunate.
A sweet romance between two unsuspecting characters that was fun to watch unfold. Cassie and Nick, each dealing with past family drama and trying to move forward and prove themselves. I found myself laughing out loud a few times and there was also a few moments when I felt emotional.
This was my first book by this author and I know I will be reading more of her books. I can only assume there will be another story to follow this one since we didn't find out what Cassie's sister, Victoria, was up to. (something to look forward to!)
