Even though this is a quick read, I think this is some of Faith Andrew's best work. The writing was flawless, the characters engaging, and the story compelling. I'd love to see more of Leila and Jude in the future!
Jude and Leila are a fun couple and I enjoyed their story. Like the other related novellas I have read, I do wish this had been longer.
Ms. Andrews did an excellent job of crafty a fun and developed story in the novella format. The interconnected Kindle World stories are definitely a treat!
A Taste Of Love is a novella by Faith Andrews written as part of Marina Adair's St. Helena Vineyard Kindle World.
Leila is tired of her jealous sister, but she's agreed to be in her wedding and the girls bachelorette weekend at the Vineyards for her dad. Her sister is over the top and a major pain in the butt to Leila, but if she can't keep out of her way maybe Leila might survive the weekend.
Jude is a people pleaser. He doesn't want to let down his family, but he wants to go after his dreams of being a musician. He grateful for his cousin giving him a job at the family Vineyard, but he can't help but want more.
Leila and Jude meet when the bachelorette party stops at Sorrento Ranch. It's insta-attraction on both ends. After horrible day with her sister Leila finds herself locked in the bathroom and left behind. Jude recuses Leila and it sets off an interesting turn of events!
I really enjoyed the characters. They seem to connect on a physical level, but as a emotional one. In a short span of time they open up to each other and realize they have quite a bit in common. Now the premise of the story is not real and wouldn't happen in real life(okay it might), it still was a great and enjoyable plot.
I liked how Jude was a gentleman. He didn't have that dominating alpha male personality and I quite enjoyed that. Leila wasn't a dingy, doormat when it came to Jude. As I said they worked and I enjoyed reading as things blossomed.
This was short, sexy and sweet! I have never read any of Marina Adair's books, but after reading Faith's novella in her St. Helena's Kindle Worlds I'm checking out her books. I hope that maybe Faith will shows us more of Leila and Jude in the future! Grab this, you will have a smile on your face when you're done reading it! 4.5 Stars!!
The premise of this story is ridiculous - two people agreeing to get fake-married after only knowing each other for a few hours just to spite someone else – and it just should not have worked, but it not only worked, it was actually really great. The attraction between Jude and Leila was palpable from the moment they locked eyes, and even though they barely knew each other at the start, as they talked it really felt like they were old friends rather than total strangers. I also loved that ChiChi was the catalyst in their craziness, and that she helped facilitate it because that was *so* perfectly ChiChi.
One of my favorite things about this story is that Jude is a really, really good guy who loves his family, his music, and (apparently) rescuing damsels in distress. He isn't a jerk who struts around like he is God's gift to women, and he doesn't boss Leila around, treating her like an underling and then get labeled an 'alpha male' as if that's an excuse for being a neanderthal. Jude is just literally just a sweet and sexy – if a bit impulsive - guy. Leila is one hundred percent correct when she says that it is refreshing and as a reader, I wholly appreciate that.
This novella is sexy and sweet, just like the books that it is based on, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a light, happy read featuring a love story between two people who are meant to be.
I won an ARC of this novella in a giveaway and was under absolutely no obligation to write this review. I did so because I enjoyed the story.
