From the Manufacturer
Stack-On's Gun Cabinets feature welded, steel box construction and superior all steel 3 point locking system with double butted, key coded lock. Full length welded and staked steel piano hinge provides greater security. Also features Stack-On's patented, contoured non-marring barrel rest and barrel standoffs for scoped guns. Durable baked epoxy finish in black. Flush mount bottom for easier fastening to floor. Pre-drilled mounting holes allow easy attachment to the floor or wall. Fastening and finishing hardware included. Pre-drilled top mounting holes align with Stack-On's Pistol/Ammo Cabinets. Stack-On's superior all steel 3-point locking system provides greater security. The locking plate passes behind the steel cabinet frame at the top and bottom of each unit. In addition, a large steel locking plate is secured behind the steel door frame in the center section of the door panel. Molded barrel rests won't deteriorate or compress over time. The contour of the barrel rest will accommodate rifles as well as side-by-side shotguns. Stack-On's patented barrel rests keep your guns in place. Stack-On's patented barrel rest standoffs keep most scoped rifles away from the back of the cabinet and allow for one position storage. This unique standoff can be attached to any Stack-On barrel rest and removed if your needs change.

No damage found anywhere on the cabinet, when I took it out of the box. The paint finish on the steel looks/feels solid, smooth, and is deep black in color. Nothing thin about the coating. No chipping or hazy paint found anywhere. I would go so far as to call it a car quality type of finish. It's that good.
I'm hoping everyone else has as good an experience as I did with this cabinet. With all the complaints about poor quality and shipping damage, hopefully Stack-On has been listening (and improving). Note that the keys are in a hidden flap inside the main box; so don't throw it away too quickly!
It does come with shelves and padding you have to put in yourself. The padding for the shelves just sits in there. The ones for the rifles/shotguns you peel off the paper on the back and stick it in yourself. The instructions are pretty clear for piecing the shelves and things together. I would definitely recommend assembling this in a well lit environment before putting it in a corner, or against a wall as some of the screws have to come in from the outside of the cabinet. No tools were included. You'll want a socket wrench set I think it was 7/16ths, wrench, and a Phillips head screw driver around.
My fiance' and I did not elect to "anchor" this thing down and I can tell you that I would highly recommend it, if you are allowed to put holes in your walls, as I am not. This "anchors" into studs in your wall to hold it in place. Sitting it on our carpet it was wobbly while empty. Luckily, I had enough ammo and things to put in the bottom to weight this down and it wasn't a problem.
The shelves on the sides are big enough to put two large auto pistols next to each other. Some of the plastic handgun cases I have didn't fit on the shelves because they were too wide. I ended up putting a lot of miscellaneous items and ammo in the bottom left of the door. The rifle side works well.
-There is a separate key for each side and it comes with two sets of keys.
-There is plenty of space for your rifles or shotguns.
-This is good for keeping people or kids away from your weapons.
-Several shelves and rifle/shotgun rests to make organization handy.
-This is not fireproof.
-This needs to be anchored down to really work well.
-Left hand cabinet is a little narrow.
-Some assembly required after receiving it.
-Weighs about 130 lbs so you may want a hand getting it where you desire.
Remember, this is a gun CABINET! It is NOT a friggin' safe! If you need and/or are looking for the piece of mind of keeping your items locked away in an impenetrable item - SPEND THE MONEY ON A SAFE! Plus we don't have any curious kids to worry about trying their ingenuity to get into this item. It is along the same lines of thickness as a filing cabinet - hence the name GUN CABINET.
We just needed something to keep our guns and certain other items locked away and to make it a heck of a lot harder just in case someone breaks in to grab it and go. Most thieves aren't going to spend a lot of time trying to break into something especially after they've broken into your house - they want to grab and go.
Got it while it was on-sale and am very happy with item and pricing. Wish they'd had the black cabinet cheap also, as I would have preferred the black one - but when the green was around $100 cheaper? We went with the green. LOL
