EDIT: After adding a deeper shelf to my gun cabinet, I realized I'd cut off the light to the lower portion where the long guns are stores. I purchased a second light for the lower portion of the safe, and it's secured easily to the wall using the Velcro fasteners. Works great.
Comes with a mounting plate and screws for permanent mounting, and also comes with adhesive velcro squares. I tried using the velcro first to stick the light onto the carpeted interior of my safe, however the velcro did not hold as when I checked the next day the light was on the floor of the safe.
The adhesive on the velcro squares isn't great either.. I tried attaching the velcro to the underside of the top shelf in the safe. Next day, the light was on the floor again.
Finally just used the screws and bracket to permanently mount the light under the top shelf. The one-page instruction sheet includes a handy template showing the distance between mounting screws. I used scotch tape to tape the template under the shelf, then an electric screwdriver to screw the mounting plate in.
The included screws self-threaded into my composite shelf without the need to drill pilot holes. It would probably do the same for wood. The screws do not appear appropriate for metal though.
Overall - I would buy this again. It is an easy, cheap option to get a light in your safe and seems to work well.
