EDIT: After adding a deeper shelf to my gun cabinet, I realized I'd cut off the light to the lower portion where the long guns are stores. I purchased a second light for the lower portion of the safe, and it's secured easily to the wall using the Velcro fasteners. Works great.
Comes with a mounting plate and screws for permanent mounting, and also comes with adhesive velcro squares. I tried using the velcro first to stick the light onto the carpeted interior of my safe, however the velcro did not hold as when I checked the next day the light was on the floor of the safe.
The adhesive on the velcro squares isn't great either.. I tried attaching the velcro to the underside of the top shelf in the safe. Next day, the light was on the floor again.
Finally just used the screws and bracket to permanently mount the light under the top shelf. The one-page instruction sheet includes a handy template showing the distance between mounting screws. I used scotch tape to tape the template under the shelf, then an electric screwdriver to screw the mounting plate in.
The included screws self-threaded into my composite shelf without the need to drill pilot holes. It would probably do the same for wood. The screws do not appear appropriate for metal though.
The Bad: We open our safe at least twice a day, but have already had to change out the batteries in just a month, even while using the 30-second sensor. In other words, battery life is really below par, particularly for LED lights.
The Ugly: We liked it enough that we wanted to purchase a second one (two of these lights would have been ideal in our safe), but the light from our re-order was non-functional right out of the package (The terrible toll of cheap Chinese manufacturing?), and then a second replacement light was also non-functional right out of the package; the company simply refunded our money after number two instead of trying to get us one that worked (maybe the entire batch was defective?)
Given the experience with the re-order and the short battery life, I am suspicious about how long the functioning one will last. No matter, it was pretty good while it lasted I guess.

It lights the entire safe well, and turns on when I open the door. Not sure if the item description says, but it takes 6 AAA batteries.
