This safe has 6 locking points, 3 located on each side of the door. The door opens and closes very smoothly, and the handle and dial both turn just as easily. The interior carpeting is nicely done as well.
Unfortunately, some people gave this safe a negative review due to claims that the dial feels 'rough'. This is because you must completely turn the handle to the locked position before rotating the dial. I just wanted to address this issue for those who might have doubts.
Now, on to the details. The safe is very-well-made and is aesthetic to look at. The shelving that comes with the unit is easy to install, and the possibilities are limitless. I placed ammo cans on the very bottom, then placed shelves above, allowing my rifles to rest on the bottom shelf. The specs state that up to 22 long guns can be stored, and this is true. BUT, if you are storing rifles that have accessories attached, you will not be able to store nearly as many.....this is to be expected though.
Overall, this safe is affordable, works extremely well for its intended use, and will give you some peace of mind knowing that your valuables have some protection from thieves while you are away from home.
My only complaints would not be the cosmetic things that other posters mentioned (It is a safe, not a work of art people, especially INSIDE the safe). The complaints would be how thick the metal is that the safe is made of. It is MAYBE 2mm thick but I would guess less. It looks really thick around the door, and side of safe but when I pulled off the carpeted cover behind the front door I noticed it is just empty in there, and the metal is super thin. The giant 1" bolts that lock the door only go through a 1-2mm sheet and attach to a nut and bolt on the locking slide connected to handle. I doubt that a person with a pry bar or crowbar couldn't muscle the door open given 5-10 mins or so.
My other complaint was that there doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the combination of the dial.
The door seems to close fine for now, no grinding on the bottom or lifting of the door needed. I read what another person said about the "grindy" dial. Make sure the handle is fully in LOCKED position before turning the dial to make that go away.
All in all, if you are just buying it for smash and grab/common burglar protection it will be a great safe to have I am sure. For this price it seems great given all the space inside and adjustable shelves. Also no battery needed to unlock it is a plus to me unlike the digital or button ones. I also don't think this safe can be cracked like you see in the movies when they listen or feel for "clicks". The way the locking mechanism works makes no sound when you select the correct number, so there's also that.
I doubt I could get 22 guns in it, but all safes seem exaggerated. Nice looking. I use a Golden Rod (heating element) at the bottom (just drill a small hole for the cord to prevent condensation. Also, I use one desiccant e/3 months (about $4 each) to keep e/thing dry and odorless. Easier for me in Kansas.
