The bench came well packed. It seems well made. The side panels are thin but sturdy when everything is put together. The wood top is the heaviest piece and is a solid block of wood. I will treat mine with some sealant to try to avoid stains. The draw and it's mechanism is very impressive. Very solid and not flimsy at all.
I took my time putting it together. all told I spend a good 4 hours on it. My nearly 4 year old Son kept coming into assist me wanting to "help" me with the drilling and screwing the bolts in which was fun for both of us. Of course he took the parts I wasn't using and attempted to build his own version. He asked me several times if this was for him, to which I replied that this is for us, for me and you to use. That made him happy.Than there were the several play breaks in the yard and him pretend driving my Van. So all told it wasn't an actual four hours but I could think of no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I really like the peg boards on the back and side. I added a outlet strip and ran the wire out the back and mounted it to the side upright. I will add a L.E.D light strip soon. It fit's perfect in my garage and I expect I will get many years of use out of it.
I didn't actually read the directions until the end. They say to install the draw after installing the top. I did it the opposite way and it wasn't an issue. It's very VERY important to square the top to the base properly and to make sure there is ample space for the uprights as they are corner pieces. I left a 1" overhang on the left and right sides and about 3" for the uprights and out lined the top before I connected the top to the base, which was upside down. I was using a small utility table as a work bench. Also, when attaching the top to the base there is no need to pre-drill holes. A halfway decent cordless drill and the self taping wood screws are enough to drill trough the top to secure it.
Good luck and enjoy!
The bench top could be better material (although the price point would be higher).
The only addition I would make, as this would be at this same price point, is feet levelers. Right now, there is no way to level the bench without resorting to outside means.
